So I was walking with the fam on Fri. @ Edmonds harbor and noticed all the boats w/ their shrimp gear onboard. I mentioned it to the wife and she mentioned how great it was that we can get shrimp out of the sound. So I casually said "I can get some off the yak too." And with that she sent me on my way! :angel:

Went by the store the next morning, got two cans of Friskies and headed out to Edmonds. Dropped my traps waaay down to 200' and then stashed the yak and went back home for family time. A few hours later I went back to the trap and pulled up 2 dozen spot shrimp. Dropped it one more time for another hour soak and got another dozen. What can I say, an amazing WAF builder!!! And btw, what a workout! Pulling 300' of leaded rope connected to a trap that weighs 10#'s will do it to ya..

A tasty basket of shrimp there.  And people pay good money for a workout like that.  Nice work.

Where does one put 300' of leaded line on a yak?  And what does that weigh?!

Leaded line doesn't weigh what it sounds like, but it is heavier.  Z, did you use the folding 10# shrimp pots that I've seen around?

Well done Zee!!!!!

Way to build the WAF and NWKAAF!!!

Nice haul, Zee.

Last crab season I was hearing of folks dropping traps 100'+, for much better catches.

I use the Promar TR-301 that I modified so the mesh fits the regs. I like the size which makes 'em easy to transport in the car and stow on the yak with all my other fishing gear.

Very similar technique to hooping for lobster where I used to live, except lobster fishing was at night.

Lucky you got your shrimping in already.  Special rule closes the season today at 3PM for areas 9 and 10.  Area 10 may open for another day sometime this month.

MAN! I got to try that shrimp thing!
We may live without poetry, music, and art
We may live without conscience and live without heart
We may live without friends, we may live without books;
But civilized man cannot live without cooks
