Pete,

Cool, I can't wait to see what a "flattie fly" looks like.

Hey Fishing-T-

I was doing a little investigation and have come up with a possible alternativie for tomorrow.  It involves another 40 miles of travel (each direction) so not sure if this is something we want to do or not.  Anyway, there is a boat launch on the east side of Whidbey Island at Strawberry Point.  This puts you on the shoreline of Whidbey, due West of the Skagit Delta.  According to "Afoot and Afloat- North Puget Sound..." Strawberry Point is " An obsure, unmarked, but nevertheless public boat ramp which gives access to Skagit Bay and several nice DNR beaches........."  Also, the area due north of the launch is shaded on the Fish-n-Map Co. North Puget Sound map and states that the area is " Good for flounder all year and sea-run cutthroat spring thru mid-summer."

So- not sure if this is tempting enough to drive another 40 miles or not.  The area is 2 NM due north of the Ustalady launch, so I suppose it could be reached by paddling as well.  Let me know what you think.  Otherwise, I'll see you at Ustalady at 9AM.

Pete,

If it’s okay with you, I’d like to go ahead and stick with Utsalady this week.  Maybe next week though.

I gotta tell you, I may have a problem this week.  Check your “My messages” for further details.  I’m still going for it at this time.

How did it go, guys?

Was all prepped last night, only to wake up to plumbing problems  (again  >:() in the in-law's 5th wheel. Spent the morning fixing and cleaning up. Even Janni was bummed that we didn't get out fishing.  :'(

Pete, I'd noticed the same notation on the Fishin' map, about Strawberry Pt. I would guess that the only reason to do the extra drive is for a wind advantage (N wind).

Pisco,

Wow!!  That is so bizarre!  What a coincidence.  I had to “no-show” too, because I too had plumbing problems of my own.  Still working on getting over them I’m afraid.

I’m mighty sorry about that, Pete.  I hope you were able to get out on your own then.  Did you do any good?  I’m up for a re-do.  I’d like to go out there this very next Sunday and try again if anybody is still interested or the one after that if that works better for anybody.  What do you say, let’s give your Strawberry point a try Pete.  I’ll drive this time if you like.  That’ll give me a chance to make this one up to you a little.

No worries Tom!  I went out and got skunk'd myself.  Nice area though.  I spooked a couple of sea-run cutts when I initially launched, but by the time I switched spools and re-rigged, I couldn't find any more of them around.

I launched from the Ustalady point launch, which puts you into a protected bay with a consistent depth of 20-30 feet.  After I pulled the yak out, I drove over to the Maple Grove launch, which is much nicer and only about a 1 1/2 mile drive away.  Launching from here would put you into some deeper drop-offs it appears, and has much more parking available.  I took a few photos, so I may try to post them later.  I am heading off to Zurich and Hamburg for a week!  Any info on Lake Lucerne yak fishing opportunities????   ;D

Later!
