Anyone catching flounder/rock sole/snd dab in the sound?   I used to catch these back in the day in Louisiana.  Just wondering what kind of setup I need to catch them here?

Thanks Pete

drag a night crawler on the bottom, 40' water, sandy bottom, use a trout rod and have a blast

Dabs/sole are pretty much everywhere when there's sand nearby. I've always had good luck with shrimp flies. If you can find 'em the Black Belt rock cod rig is cheap.

Bummer is you can only keep 2.

There are a lot of flounder species in Puget Sound.  Seems like learning the differences might increase your stringer size.

Pretty sure it was last season. A total retention limit of 15 bottom fish w/ a limit of 2 of each species. They're like cockroaches up my way and wouldn't mind the limit being bumped up. They're damn tasty.

I love sole/flounder.  Where exactly is, "up my way"?

Demonick,  from where you are, just head to the sound in the straightest path possible.  You will find them pretty much everywhere.

Sole are pretty much the easiest fish to catch. I've caught them on everything from shrimp flies, spoons, hootchies, and jigs up to 4" long. Anything that moves pretty much.

When I use the shrimp fly rig I just put a weight at the bottom of the rig attach it to the main line and bounce. If they are there they'll eat it. So if you're not getting anything it's because they aren't there.
