A buddy of mine just sent me some pics of his new truck and camper, and it was on the beach.  I saw Cape Kiwanda Rock in the south facing picture, and Cape Lookout in the north facing picture, but didn't recognize the beach.  He said it was between Sand Lake and Cape Kiwanda.  Duh, I've never seen this beach access before.  There is also a lake right across the street.

Although the aerial shots show a pretty wide surf zone, who knows what it's like on any other given day?

If you look at the "street view" you'll see that it's a fairly short drive on pretty flat firm sand from the highway.

That access point is just south of Terra Del Mar.  From that access road you can drive, on the beach ::), to the north side of Cape Kiwanda. It has fairly mellow surf but it's no where near as protected as the launch area in PC.  I have heard, but never confirmed, that there is some decent surf perch action along that stretch.  I believe the lake is on private property.

I've surfed over there a time or two.  To the south there's a bit of offshore structure, a few rocks here and there that you can see on a low tide, not sure how the fishing is though.

Hmmm? It may be worth the time to check it out.  If nothing else, its another place I can take my truck camper for the day so my wife and kids can play in the water without danger of being in the way of Dory's, and surfers.

It'd be a great place for that. On a mellow surf day, it'd also be a fun place to play in the surf in a yak if you feel like it.
The road down to this beach can be a little tricky as it's only wide enough for one vehicle at a time and could be a little dicey without 4wd.

No problemo!  All my rigs are 4WD.  I take my crewcab and camper in the sand quite often.

This is 2 miles of soft powder sand on Lake McConaughey in Nebraska.   I actually made it out there fine with 80 PSI in the tires, but once I stopped I needed to air down to 35 PSI to get moving again without sinking.  The picture makes it look stuck, but in reality it wasn't.  I purposely dropped the  drivers side a bit in the sand to level the camper out so the fridge would operate properly while we were parked.  8)

Looks like quite the setup.  I've been thinking about a new truck and camper and the one you have looks like there's lots of head space in the bunk.

What brand is it and are you happy with it?

Thanks

Greg

The camper is Snowriver and I love it.   Unfortunately for future buyers, the company had to close up last fall due to the failing economy.  The CEO/owner decided it was safer to retire while he was still making money and could sell off the assets and comfortably pay severance to his loyal employees.  It is a Canadian company that was high on customer service and satisfaction.  They did not have alot of volume out the door, so you don't see this brand in the masses like Artic Fox, Lance, and other big name units.  I was fortunate enough become personal friends with the CEO of the company and he really took care of us.  He'd come out with some new fangled upgrade and would put it on your rig for pennies if you visited the factory up in Penticton BC.   Alot of the innovations that you see in truck campers and even other RV's over the years, were in fact his own design.  Other companies tried to copy from him, or purchased patent rights from him.

At this point even finding a used one is next to nill, and they hold their value like no other truck camper out there.  If you are interested in finding the right camper, myself and Noggin Yakker can probably help you out.  Both of us know ALOT of people in the industry and can put you in touch with the right people to get your answers for just about anything truck camper related.
