Besides, most of their beer is better than ours. Think Kokanee, not Oly! :P

Reeeeeallly? I guess I'll have to be the guinea pig and test it all out! ;) What are some good labels?

When I was a 19yo college student, any of their beers tasted good. Kokanee, Molson, etc. are their macro brews. I'd search for their micros. Oh, and some of their ciders are worth checking out, too. (They drink the filtered mass-produced stuff on ice, with lime.)

Wow, good to see so much excitement around this event, even given the distance of the trip!

Sounds like a blast to me!

I'd be interested in carpooling and sharing a campsite.

I'd be ready to leave from Seattle any time after 5:00 pm on Thursday, and should be back sometime Monday night. Other than that, I'm flexible... willing to rough it without "facilities" if need be, and ready to catch some big ones!

Anyone have room for me and a kayak? Also, campsite space?

Matt_K,

You might try to P.M. Espiga about room in a campsite.  He's probably also your best bet to carpool with at this time.  Myself, I plan to go up on Friday with Pisco Sicko, and my site is feeling faily full with 3 to 4 of us right now.

I do however have a kayak that might could be loaned out.  It's a Cobra Fish-N-Dive... I usually have it on hand for begginers to use.  In this situation you won't need to paddle far from camp, so it might be just the thing even though it's a little bit slow.  You'd have to work out how you'd get it to Moutcha from Seattle area cause I'm not taking my own car.  And we'd have to arrange something to where I know I'm not getting duped by some guy surfing the net, looking for an easy kayak to pick up.  Shouldn't be too hard.

Get with Espiga as soon as you can.  This is definitely going to be the biggest kayak angling event of 2007 for the NWKA web site.

Fishin-T. Thanks for the advice.

I'll contact Espiga. Just as a clarification, I have my own kayak already, but thanks for the generous offer.

See my one other real post on http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/bb/index.php?topic=455.0 to prove that I actually like to Kayak fish  ;D

Fish on!

Matt_K,

When you asked "Anyone have room for me and a kayak?", I read that way silly and thought you meant "Does anyone have room for me... and does anyone have a kayak for me?"  I don't know why I took it that way.  Oh well, no real harm done I suppose.

Any way, it'll be great to meet you up at Moutcha.  I'm sure we'll find a camping spot for EVERYbody, but it keeps it from getting crowded if most find a spot before hand.  The main point being: be sure to come on up even if you don't manage to pre-arrange a spot cause I'm sure we'll make a spot for you.

I've seen a few questions lately as to how to get up to Moutcha.  I think the way I'll go is to take the Tsawwassen-Nanaimo ferry over to the island.

Here's the Tsawwassen-Nanaimo sailing schedule.  Ferries leave that the same time at both ends.  As it's a holiday weekend, reservations may be a good thing.

 5:15 am
 7:45 am
10:15 am
12:45 pm
 3:15 pm
 5:45 pm
 8:15 pm
10:45 pm

I'm figuring a little over 2 hours drive from north Seattle to the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.  BUT, and this is a big BUT, the lineup at the border can be 1-2 hours long.  The ferry ride is about 2 hours.  It's another 2 hours to Campbell River, and another 2+ hours to Moutcha from there (depending on how you drive the winding roads).  So I'm allocating 10-11 hours to get up there.  So ... I'll most likely make reservations on the 7:45 ferry going there so I can get in at a decent time and perhaps gets some pre-fishing it.  I'm not sure yet which ferry to take back.  I'm thinking 12:45 right now.

The wife and I will be taking our truck and wondering how we can reserve a ferry. Any leads Pole2? Would be cool to get all the boyz (girls included ;D) on one ferry. Thoughts?

I haven't reserved yet, but will do so this weekend.  The times I stated below are the likely times I'll reserve.

I still haven't made my ferry reservations, but would like to in the next day or so.  Anyone else going to make reservations?  And for what time?

Can I get a shout out from whomever is going?  Just wondering ...

Any of you Oregon guys going to make this trip?  Come on up ... it's going to be good times, and probably the largest gathering of kayak anglers in the NW this year.

Polepole,

Fishin-T here.  I'll be going up with Pisco Sicko on Friday morning, not sure what time, that's up to Pisco mostly.  We'll be coming back on Monday after breakfast or so.  I'll be camping in F4 with Snag-a-But and maybe one or two more... I can't remember who I promised a spot to.

I was there last year, and I can't wait to get back!  Just think of the old cliche': "Like shootin' fish in a barrel".  That's pretty much the way it seemed to me.  Can't wait to see who all shows up.  See you all there!

I still need to reserve a ferry spot, too. You OK with an early departure, Tom?

Looks like I'm carpooling with Charliefl66 and another guy, Ken.  That is if we can figure out how to pack all our gear into Charles' van.  Will  be sharing a site with Z.

So the list so far as I know it is:

myself
charliefl66
Ken
Zeelander
Fishin-T
Pisco Sicko
Snag-a-but
WaterWolfQCI
Espiga
fishdog
Matt_K

Is that right?  Looks like NWKA is going to represent.  Anyone else heading up?
