Anybody put a rear hatch in their Trident 13s? I see that circle blank in the stern and would love to have access back there. Just curious if anybody has done it yet?

It's been done before and it's a 4 1/2" hatch if you were wondering. Just big enough for keys and cell phone and other small items.

I thought it was a 4" hatch ... inside diameter.

Actually I don't really use it.  I just added it to gain access for some peripheral mounts.

Do you remember where you picked up the hatch? I'm mostly interested for rear installation access.  All I seem to find are 6" or the occasional 5" hatches.
It's never too late to start procrastinating.

If that hatch were used primarily to provide internal stern access, is the bag removable with anything less than a knife?

You could email Josh Eck at Malibu Kayaks to ask. [email protected]
I emailed them to ask about getting one of those 4" hatches and he's the one who responded. He gave me a quote of $34.99, directly from Malibu Kayaks.

If you don't want the bag, just buy a standard screw in or 1/4 turn hatch for about 7 bucks (plus shipping) here:  http://www.duckworksbbs.com/hardware/hatches/sd336140-160/index.htm
These are Sea Dog quarter turn and I have had good luck with them.  Seem very water tight

or spend a little more and pick it up in the store at west marine: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/684/377%20710/0/deckplates/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0?N=377%20710&Ne=0&Ntt=deckplates&Ntk=Primary%20Search&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Nao=0&Ns=0&keyword=deckplates&isLTokenURL=true&storeNum=5000&subdeptNum=24&classNum=12946

A person used to be able to get them at Joe's for a good price. :'(
