Anyone up for this Saturday June 6th, hitting up Hagg lake.  Maybe upgrading on some AOTY points?

Let me know,

Sean

If you wait until Sunday.. there are some IFish pontoon guys holding an informal non-motorized boat bass fishing derby (no real prizes that I know of) on Hagg starting at 5:30 am.  I'm thinking about showing up to see if I can't convert a few toon guys into yak guys.

Here's the link..

I'll be camping in Detroit lake at that point, otherwise I would hiut up that bass derby for sure.  Going to hit hagg at sunrise, fish until 12:30 or so, pack up go home switch rides ( with loaded camping gear and GF's yak) head out to Stayton pick her up from a baby shower, then go to Detroit Lake, and start fishing  again ;D

Good on ya. When you go zipping by from spot to spot I'm sure they'll take notice.

I'm pretty sure that they'll all be sporting electric outboards

I don't know, the intent of the original IFish thread sounded like this was a gathering of small non-motorized boats.

I'm thinking about heading that way tomorrow too.  Only been there once for a paddling non fishing trip.  What time does the day pass booth open in the morning?  Or did they have an automated machine I didn't see last time?

They do have an automated machine, the park opens at sunrise, and that's when I plan on getting there... 5:30 or so!

There is an automated machine that you can use when the attendant isn't there.

They don't take credit cards at the park so bring $6 in cash for your day pass.

Gates open at sunrise.

Well as long as I don't end up like the dog in your pic tonight (EastBurn Happy Hour can't go wrong with beer and skee ball!!).  I might see you there lol.  Any special lures or tricks to fishing Hagg?

Ya I thought that was a bit funny getting charged for a boat the last time I was there.  Didn't even use the launch drove up to the trail just past it and carted in.... Won't be doing that again was not  worth the hassle -_-

Hagg is a decent multispecies lake, so picking a "special lure" will depend on what you want to target.

Trout
Largemouth bass
Smallmouth bass
Yellow perch
Crappie

What are you going to target?  I do really well with needle fish tipped with a little worm (lighter part) when I'm targeting trout.  Going to bring some plastic worms, and some real worms as well for the bass, have a few crappie jigs I'll give a go for crappie.  Not sure what to use for perch, but I know they are in there... I also might use a bober and worm for some bullhead.  Also going to bring some crankbait lures for some bass... haha I'm going after it all!

Got a new virgin bass rig that needs to be broken in.  Got kind of burned out on trout from too many trips to Barney.

Must be nice.

Last month's (May issue) Northwest Sportsman magazine had an article on Hagg.

Luhr Jensen also put out a technical report on how to fish Henry Hagg Lake.  Just substitute all of the Luhr Jensen specific lures mentioned with whatever you might find that is similar.
