Joe, I'm sorry we missed. After your message, I decided to get caught up on some sleep. I didn't even wake up until 10:30 and then just spent the day with dogs.

Karl, next time you and your son come down, just give me a holler. Starting in mid-July I go back to a M-F work schedule.

This morning was nearly glassy. Launched fully rigged with only the occasional ankle-slapper breaking. I was specifically courting Madam Ling today so I brought out the irons and heavier lead. On the way out past the rock, the blacks were boiling everywhere. Allen you were right to carry an 8 wt fly rod for those occasions. I was temporarily distracted from my mission today, just casting somewhere out away from me and slowly reeling in. After about 20 minutes and 3 shredded Fish Traps, the count to the yak was over 15 (I stopped counting). I then resumed my initial plan and headed for deeper water.

On the nautical charts I've seen that N/S running reef that is just north of the rock but I couldn't find it today. I fished from Haystack north for about 1.5 miles in a zig-zag pattern looking for it. There were many more blacks hitting the big lead and the shrimp fly teaser equally. I even caught one smaller than you did Craig.

Other than the 6 typical 16-18" blacks I packed away, I caught my first cabbie!!! A very soft belly, like a Ling.

Cooler is full today

Thanks, Glad to Boss!!! As I was loading the Subi at the end, a Dory made its usual loud and proud landing (I love watching those guys). I spoke to the captain about their luck, no lings either, and it turns out he is one of the voluteer hosts at the campground. I mentioned we're planning on being there again this year and he was very supportive. Also, it's nice to be able to clean the fish and get the fillets on ice before even leaving the beach area.

So far I've tried Dramamine and Dramamine Less Drowsy with no luck and I've had to pull over and sleep for about 30 minutes on the drive home. Today I tried the scopalomine tablets, Scopace, and had no problem at all. Honestly, the tabs might be the difference but the water was like glass when I went out and I came in shortly after the wind began to pick up. We'll see how a real 5-6 foot swell treats me in the future...

Jay, congrats on your first Cabbie. I caught my first last week at Baltimore rock. Those guys give a pretty good tussel!

Once I get my MoJo on how the heck to catch fish, it would be fun to have a mini PC derby one day using just Barbie, Superman, or Sponge Bob type kiddy combo poles with 4lb test or less mono line.

Welcome to the cure.... SCOPACE is my hero!

I like the pills as I can adjust the dose way better than the patch. 1 for calm days, 2 for plus maybe one at lunch for rough days.  Never leave the beach without it.

You guys continue to awe and inspire me. Wish Pacific City wasn't so far from the Rogue Valley. PP: I can't wait to try my Scopace prescription ...

I am DEFINITELY getting one of those. Although my banker may question the 'need' for another rod, there is no doubt these will bring more fish home.  ;D
