Dinos and snares

Couldn't find a reg. about using a snare to land a dino so got in contact w/ Brad James at the WDFW Sturgeon Program. Turn out it is ok to use them. Here's a nice DIY snare from the kayak dino masta' Erik Kunz (www.kzreelrods.com) Not a bad idea to add some pipe insulation so it floats.

If I remember correctly the recommended length has to do with the minimum length of sturgeon in San Francisco Bay.  It might be good to adjust accordingly to WA/OR regulations.

Mid body, while trying to avoid the gills.  Run your loop over your rod starting at the butt, up the rod, down the line, and around the fish.

Go to NCKA.org and do a bunch of searching. There's tons of info from the most experienced kayak dino fisherman anywhere. There's some great videos on YouTube too. The classic "Over and Under".
