Karl(Noggin Yakker) and his son Ryan came down this weekend for some Sunset action. The bite wasn't red hot but we managed to catch quite a few fish throughout the weekend.

Saturday we fished the north around the lighthouse, Ryan caught the first fish, an underling and even managed a smile even though he was a bit green in the gills. He pedaled in after to relax on the beach. karl managed his first keeper yak Ling at the gap in the rocks. I caught a few blacks and an underlinng. I was on C&R mode all weekend.

Saturday night we cedar planked some Sturgeon steaks that Karl brought down. Damn good stuff, love the consistency, like boneless chicken breast!!

Sunday we started out at the lighthouse and made our way out to baltimore rock. I snagged the smallest Greenling i ever caught at B Rock, and a 20 legged starfish. It was a bit rougher then saturday but the action was good at different spots, pretty slow at B Rock for the most part. We got on some fat blacks on the inside of B Rock that were a kick on the light gear.

Had a blast hangin out with Karl and son, thanks for comin down guys, see ya next time....

See ya on the water..
Roy

Nice report and pics CBY. Looks like good fun all around. Big ups to Ryan for keeping it together long enough to get the pic.

Way to spread the love Roy!  And you documented it to boot. 8)
You sure do have some fine fishing holes down your way.

Ryan and I had a great time down there! The fishing was good, we enjoyed swapping stories with the Roys and Ralph (RoyG, you should post the Octopus story in the 'Don't Ask Me How I Know' forum!), and Roy did an awesome job grilling a sturgeon steak on a cedar plank over hot coals. Man, that was good!

For me, though, the real kicker of the trip was that my son, Ryan, Mr. tough guy, Mr. Semper Fi, who sometimes makes fun of my serving in the Coast Guard (instead of a real military branch), lasted about an hour on Saturday before sea sickness humbled him and sent him back to the beach! Semper Paratus, dude!

Cool pics, Roy. I like the rock afro I have in pic #2!

Here are some some more pics from the weekend (There are more in my gallery):

Saturday

Paddling/Peddling out

Cape Arago lighthouse appearing out of the fog

Ryan's first yak ling (it's a wee ling...which just happens to rhyme with puking)

Roy stays focused in the foam

Roy hooked up, nice bendo!

Roy ignores my request that he land the fish on the side of the boat facing the camera

Nice black about to be released

Sunday

Ready to launch

Ryan, preparing to start his new career as an illusionist, makes his kayak look like it's sinking

Another nice black about to be released by Roy

A nice black about to be bonked on the head by Ryan

Gotta Love Bendos!

Man, when the breeze is just right...those birds STINK!!

Another CPR

The queezy one hooked up again

Another CPB (Catch, Photograph, Bonk)

Ready for more (thanks, in no small part, to Bonine)

Landing last black of the day

And finally, Roy contemplates how this one would look on his living room wall...

Thanks again, Roy, for your generous hospitality!

- Karl

May have to give Karl his own "On the water photography" forum.  I'd sure love to learn a trick or 2.

In addition to the Big Fish Brag board, we could start a Wee Fish CPR board as well...

Karl, I am glad this trip proved more productive than the last. I am sorry I wasn't able to hookup with you guys, it looks like it was a great day for fishing. Hopefully we can fish together again on a future trip!

Dave

Karl,

You are one fine photographer!

Fine or crazy... I'm not sure I'd take a Nikon D80 out on the ocean in a kayak.

Eh... with the right insurance I'd do it.  I used to have an D1, back in the days of "extra" money, and the insurance for it came to about 8 bucks a month as a valuable property rider on my renter's insurance.  I accidentally let it go swimming in the Cascade River up around Marblemount, called in the claim, and got a check for the replacement cost.  Well, needless to say I didn't buy another uber-pricey camera.  I went on a road trip with the GF instead.  Wish I coulda taken pictures of THAT road trip!  :'( >:D
