Thanks, I appreciate everyone's comments about my photos!

However, I'm sure my results have less to do with talent and more to do with the equipment I'm willing to risk taking out there (no guts, no glory!). So Wali’s question is spot on:

What kinda camera were you shooting with Karl? Those are some heck of sharp pictures and you actually made CBY look good!?!?! >:D

As Bsteves said, I'm using a Nikon D80 that, while not a pro-grade camera (can't justify the expense...yet), was the best I could afford at the time. Plus it was compatible with the pro-grade Nikon (Nikkor) lenses I already own (these lenses stay on dry land).

Another factor is a willingness to lay down the rod and reel in favor of the camera...even especially during a hot bite. A few weeks ago my failure to do this resulted in missing a potentially phenomenal shot. During a white hot dino bite, Zee, anchored thjirty or forty feet off my starboard side, hooked up. Instead of grabbing the camera, I remained totally focused on my line until... it was too late. Instead of the photo, what I have is an image frozen in my memory; Zee is in the foreground while in the background, only 15 or 20 feet beyond Zee, a huge sturgeon, having just launched its entire body out of the water, hangs in mid-air... forever... :'(

Gotta run, the carpool's leaving...

You didn't miss a thing! The best pictures are always between your ears!

And you should check out Ronbo613's page. If I'm not mistaken he builds things that help insure your Nikon will be at much less risk. :o
