I was at REI today and I saw advertisements for a Ocean Kayak factory sale July 10, 11 and 12 at the Seattle REI including factory seconds.  The sign noted that all sales were final.

I wonder if someone could find out in advance what they will have. It would be nice to know rather than driving from Portland to discover they didn't have what you were considering.

I may stop by an REI next week and ask.

That's possible, I'd be taking my truck (Ranger E-Cab w/rack) just in case I found something I can't live without. ;)

I did email REI and ask what they would have available and they say it takes one business day to respond.....

Wow a quick response.......

Hello John,

Thank you for your interest in purchasing an Ocean Kayak from REI.

The REI Seattle store is expecting shipments of second and blemished kayaks from Ocean Kayak and Necky later this week.  These kayaks will be offered for sale to REI members on July 10, 11, and 12, during the Seattle store's regular business hours.  Click on the link below for store information:

I was up at REI first thing Friday mourning hoping to get a new Yak. I wanted a "Big Game" but to my suprise that was the one Yak they we rent offering. But after I talked a bit to the Johnson out door rep (think his name was Jim) he hooked me up. I had to drive up to ferndale to pick it up but I got my shiny new yak for $699. Thanks to Jim and Kim(Customer service rep in ferndale) for setting it all up. Even picked up a Venus 10 for the wife. Went out on a test run with them last night and had a blast. To day I'm off shopping for some safety gear and tonight will be the maiden fishing voyage.

FYI, if anyone is driving up for this sale they didn't get enough boats. I would call before and see what they have left. By the time I left about 11:00 on Friday the had already sold about 50%. Jim said he was tiring to organize another truckload but I don't know how that went. Just a word of caution.

I'm off

I was just there any they have a couple of good buys there.  They got more boats in last night.  The prices are certainly worth a look if you live close.
