The "First Trip Out" thread started by konigslachs got me "planning for success" and considering how to store fish on the kayak, a limit of salmon in particular.  I'm fishing a T13A.

I picked up a Katch Cooler fish bag from Outdoor Emporium and have used it a couple of times.  My jury is still out on whether it's a keeper or not.  It does keep the fish cold.  Pack one side with ice (2 bags, crushed), stuff the fish on the other side.  The color of the bag is fine if you are on a boat and keep the bag out of direct sunlight, but on a kayak the surface gets pretty warm.  I think the outside should be white or silvered like the inside.  It is a bit ungainly on the yak.  I've just thrown it cross-wise in front of me, and this worked fine for 30 flounder, but now that a FF and a rod holder are in front of me I am not sure where to put it - perhaps strapped to the rear live well, perhaps over the front hatch.

I am wondering if just throwing a 5 gallon bucket in the live well behind the milk crate is an easier answer.   A solid block of ice might last 5 hours or more.  Maybe just throw the bled fish in the stern live well.  Seems like they may get a bit warm exposed to the sun.

How do you store your catch?

18" Game Clip and or 36" Catch Cooler mounted to the stern.
It's never too late to start procrastinating.

Burlap sack and a game clip.  Splash some water on it when I think about it and haven't had any problems with spoilage yet.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Oh yeah, I strongly discourage dragging your catch in the water on the ocean unless you feel like getting flipped by a sea lion or seal looking for an easy lunch. It could also create unwanted attention from the landlord.  :-\

Wow, that is out of control.  But if it were spraying water like a fireboat...
