My wife is heading to Poulsbo for a job thinging on Sat and taken the chillins. I thought that I might head out toward snow creek and see if I can't get into some fish.
Went out last Sat for a shot at some hali's out of freshwater bay with no luck. As a matter of fact I saw no fish caught that day there. And I paddled and drifted for over 10 miles, (according to the tracker on the gps) that includes the drift and paddle back's. Went out to 240'. Pretty mellow for the most part, the water that is. But wore myself out on the paddle back. Caught a huge sea aneamea looking thing at 170'. ( I didn't think they were out that deep) about the size of a soft ball but attached to a huge rock. Just swallowed my bottom hook with squid on it whole. bizzare.
I also heard some good things about a lake out here called wentworth head toward forks. They throw the over stock of steele head from Dickey river into it and I heard they get a little size to them.
Any way anyone intrested in snow creek and wants to go drop me a line. If you make it to my house we can load up my truck and take one vehicle. Any takers?

Go gettem Matt!  I'll be down at the Alder Creek event this weekend, but looking forward to seeing you over Memorial Day.  Your going to join us for at least part of that adventure, right?

Hey Matt,

Yeah, I think I’d like “in” on some of that.  I’ll need to work a full day Friday and then shoot over to the O.P., and I need to be home Sat night in time to go in on Sun. to make up for missing Sat., but I think I can still do it.  I’m up for Snow Creek, or maybe we could launch for free at Ship Wreck point about 5 miles east of Snow C.  If the weather looks like crap, we can go over to the protected bay behind (South and East) Dungeoness spit and then fish just off of its point.

I plan to camp at the county park near the spit, but if I might be so forward as to suggest it… I think we could get to the water earlier if you wouldn’t mind letting me crash on the den floor with my camping gear.

I’ve been pimping my yak in secret the last few weeks, so I need to scramble and batten down all the loose ends.  Still, I can’t wait to try out all my new upgrades.  Yeah, I think I’ve gotten to the point (at work mostly) where I really NEED this one.

Tom, I think that I can swing that, I have a bed for ya if you don't mind the clutter.
If the weather is too crappy we can go to freshwater and go for some of those slab perch or go back towards dungeness, whatever floats your boat, eh, kayak. I am hoping for snow creek cause the limit is bigger. 5 and 6 are one rock fish and its the first one caught. Although the perch have a big limit. we can try for hali at dungeness if you want to school me on your tech... Get back with me.

What a great weekend to do an OlyPen run!!!

.SAT...W WIND 10 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FT OR LESS.
.SUN AND MON...NW WIND 10 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FT OR LESS.

Haven't yet heard of anyone with firm plans to fish down around Portland on Sunday.  FFTW, where are you?  If no one speaks up to fish on Sunday, I can be in Port Angeles Saturday evening if you're up for fishing on Sunday.

:o Dooh! Leave some for me! Memorial weekend seems too far away.  :'(

The North Cascade Pass is supposed to be open on Thursday, which shortens the drive for me, but I've got a lot to do on the homestead, and will be lucky to hit a local lake.

Allen,

Yeah, okay, sure.  If I know that you’re coming out there then I’ll stay over and fish on Sunday too.  You’ll need to let me know before I leave town so I can make the appropriate plans.  I’m hoping to be in line for that Edmonds ferry by 5:00 pm, trying to make it to Matt’s place before 10:00.  Any ideas where you’d want to meet up or where to stay / camp?  You want to camp at Snow Creek or maybe the old $50 cabin at Sekiu?  I shouldn’t skip work but shoot, I haven’t actually fished since early last fall or so.

Matt,

So you can see above, I’d like to try to get out to your place by 10:00 (I hope) on Fri night.  I’ve been wanting to try launching from Shipwreck Point just past Sekiu since I drove past it last year.  There’s a supposed halibut hot spot (see the “Fish-n-map”) right at one mile straight out or there’s way plenty of kelp bed area to work on.  If Allen has promised to get out there by Sat. night then of course I’ll fish till sundown or what ever.  If Allen’s not coming out after all, then I should probably head for the ferry with enough time to get home before midnight.

I don’t have any plans for meals except for granola bars and whatever I can find on the road.  I can’t seem to wangle enough time to pull it together any better than that for this trip.

Right now Sat's are good for me, but Sundays are spoken for.
So T come on over on friday, will be looking for ya. If Allen is going to show up on Sat evening and you guys are gona camp out on sat nite then we can take seperate trucks so you don't have to come all the way back to PA and then go back out. Unless you guys stayed at a motel in town.
Whatever works for ya.

Careful where you drop for hali's; Shipwreck is west of the Sekiu R., in MA4. And MA5 doesn't open for hali's till May 24. I fished the east end of Kydaka Bay, off the point, a couple years ago. Nada on fish, but the conditions weren't great with a front that blew through.

Good call on Shipwreck Pisco.  I still don't have my 2007 regs yet.  Thanks for the input, wish you were coming out with us.

I wish I was, too.  :-* Our trip to the Spit, last year, was a gas, except for losing the fish.

I know you have the big trip to John Day happening (which I knew I couldn't swing with my family), any chance you can join us over Memorial?

I'm making the call to NOT fish at all on Sunday.  Work is getting in the way.   >:(  Best to preserve the WAF (Work Approval Factor) for the time being.

Polepole,

I can't fault you for going in to work.  Since you can't make it, I can't make a good enough argument to avoid the work thing myself on Sunday.  Fair enough, we'll do it again some time soon.  Thanks for the heads up though.

Matt,

I guess that I'd prefer to head over towards Snow Creek too.  Like you say, if the weather is crappy we can go with freshwater instead.

Floatin,

Okay... so everything is finally loaded up (why is that ALWAYS so HARD?) and I'm headed for the ferry terminal.  I'll have my cell with me but probably turned off to save fuel.  I'll call you when I get to Kingston and then we'll both know that it'll be about 1.0 to 1.5 more hours.
