::) gee for a guy who thought he wasn't gonna wet a line at all this year, i'm gettng out a lot lately. >:D

right now, myself, ravdakot and squidgirl intend to launch from the downtown hoodsport access at or just after 1st light tommorow morning [sunday the 26th] any who care to are welcome to join us.

you'll see my white F150 parked across the street next to the gas station. some of that parking lot should be marked as public parking via WDFW, if i recall.  there is a small gated launch area with about 8 steps down immediately to the right of the public peir.

hopefully there isnt a ton of other vehicles taking up the few public spaces in front of it.

this was a tough decision.. ravdakot brought up a great alternative, which was flounder in the nisqually delta for the same time. we had to debate a good deal on which to do..pinks won, but barely.

see you there.
Rich

Flounder do not require a gray light launch :-)

A ]  Still SLOOOOOOW only saw 3 fish hooked /landed.

B ] Use the anchor. Do not be surprised to find tons of fouledinvegetation tackle covering the flukes when you retrieve it.

C ] Correction on the name of our launch point. It's actually Gronovold Park, right next to the dive shop.

D ] Rinse everything down and clean it afterwards!! This is still a Salt/Brackish Water Fishery

E] Go back to the WDFW handbook and carefully read the restrictions concerning the fishing limits outside the hatchery. Also find a local who knows that area and get the lowdown on what the OTHER buoys for the PRIVATE Tidelands mean to you as a fisherman.

F] The local wade fishermen, and the boat crowd in general there are very congenial. It's a more relaxed bunch than the ones who show up for the other salmon species coming down the canal.

Huntinhick; was good to finally meet you. Hopefully we both have a bit more time to chat next time we meet.

Ravdakot; thanks, youngster, you done good. hope we got you back in enough time for you to clean up/.wash down and get some family and sleep time before you had to go in to work. And thank you again for brunch. that really hit the spot.

biggest problem sunday was the tide, it was not a High (high) tide.  the bigger the tide change the more fish come in.  There is alot of crap in the water but that happens to me every where on the salt.  I am not fishing this weekend I will be hunting instead, but after that let me know when people want to go an I will check  the tides and show people the ropes, one day in waders on the beach was enough for me to remember why I liked kayaking so much.   I had the same guy cast over me like 10 times whereever I moved.  anchoring takes a little effort at the tide change due to current and a pretty soft bottom butonce you get stuck it will usally hold.  I like the evening tide the best and it olny takes a few minutes to get to the launch so you cna stay pretty late.  and on weekdays it is way less crowded.  I might be out a couple times this week if I do plan on heading out I will post so anyone can join up.  btw with the late tides you can get one the water like 1830-1900 and still get some good fishing in.

Got plenty of sleep. A meal was the least I cold do to repay you for the shuttle service. Nice to meet you both, and we'll have to meet up again after I get back from NJ.

Cheers,
Richard

Deal. I should be back from Oahu by then. hoping now that the afghanistan trip falls thru, looking like it will.  more time for me and fishing  :D

hoping flounder will still be in season too. and that means we could also go up the delta after nooks and such.

ok, i have a wild idea.

would a spoon/jig/spinner/ buzz bomb suspended under a casting float work for pinks? i know that it's a proven method for chinooks and one or two others species of salmon, but i've not heard of anyone using it for pinks..

think it'll work?

Pink jig under a bobber is "the rig" of choice for fishing pinks in the duwamish estuary area.  Add a bit of scent to the pink jig (shrimp, anise, krill, or some mixture of them).
