Get an inflatable float ring or inner tube, and fit a round plastic laundry tub in it.  Dump the keepers in, and tow it around?

I had debated between going with those floating wire baskets, and a divers mesh bag.  I decided just to go with the burlap, as it's thick, basic, and will hold retain water/keep things cool.  I'm glad I did!  I knew to watch out for the pinchers, but had no idea the points of the legs were so sharp.  A large grab stabbed me in the thumb with one of it's legs and I bleed pretty good.  The burlap sack helps protect me from the sharp legs when it's inside the kayak.

So ya a burlap sack worked awesome for me, and it's less gear I need, cause I plan on putting a salmon in the same one (when I'm fishing not crabbing heh).

What's your game plan for a nice stringer of rockfish?  They can be very sharp and poky, many have very painful semi-venomus (think bee sting) dorsal spines (quillback/china rockfish)  Lings can get downright poky too.  Not sure I would want a bag of them sitting between my legs, the spines will go right though burlap.  Just wanted to make sure you had a heads up before you headed out ;D

Still working on that! haha

Thanks for pointing that out, I thought maybe throwing them in the burlap and bungieing them down behind me, but if the spines would poke through the bag then that's no good.  I'll have to put the thinking cap on I guess..

Any suggestions?

I've been planning on getting one of those catch coolers that Zee recommended.  Would the spines tear those up/poke through?

PSR......  I just bought one of those KatchKoolers from Sportco for 19.99 for the Salmon i thought i was going to catch Sunday..

I strapped in on the front hatch of my T-13 and worked good even with a bag of ice in it.  it could lay flat across your SINK and make it easy to stuff your crabs in or your salmon.

When I crab I use my OK Big Game, and I just bungie a 5 gallon bucket in the back of the tankwell.  If I am kayaking, I prefer to use rings vs. traps, and there is plenty of room for 2 or 3 coil away rings, a small bait cooler, and the bucket.

As far as spots, might try up the beach a ways (in either direction) from the boat dock at Nehalem Bay.  Just keep the pots out of the navigation channel (that place can be a nightmare of tangled crab pot lines on a strong outgoing.)

I had 2 lings an 6 rockfish in that while I did my crappiest surf landing of all time and no damage to the bag. For the money it's pretty hard to beat that thing.
