I have caught several Humboldt's on long range boats out of San Diego. They are no fun. It is like bringing up a dead weight from 200ft. No fight, just heavy line nad an easy tip in a kayak. Also, and I don't know first hand, but I hear the suck as table fare. I have my doubts about this because I think that is a tenderizing issue.
Any way, have seen masses of them floating in Cow Town and that is a site to see.
Any long rangers here?
Todd
