I am having a tough time finding a 7' or 7'5" two-piece rod in either spinning or casting versions.  I am kind of tough on rods as I do not fish from a comfortable safe boat, but the yak and shore fishing, so I am looking for rods not much over $100.

In general what the thoughts on Carrot Stix and Ugly Stix for kayak trolling?

The Berkley IM7's make a great disposable rod at $39.99 each (on sale).  After breaking an expensive salmon rod last year I bought a couple of these and have been extremely happy with them.  They're cheap, fairly rugged, have good action and did I mention cheap?   :D  These have been my primary fresh water rods for the last year.  For the salt, I have a couple of ugly sticks that serve me well.

Where did you find them on sale at?  Anyone know if  Bimart carries them?

The Berkley IM7s have been my go to rods for a few years, have a 9' casting and an 8'6" spinning.  Broke the tip off the spinning while casting.  Looking to replace the spinning with something shorter, but still want a two-piece, and looking for something shorter for trolling and eventually downrigging, also two-piece.  Where are you finding the these rods for $40?!   I paid about $80.

Yeah, I have a couple of the Air IM-7's from Berkely. I have one 9'6'' that I used for steelhead on the rivers and I really like it. I have another that I got for targeting salmon but it has yet to get wet  ::). I think that one ended up to be $30 after MIR from a door-buster on black Friday last year.  8)
For the price, you really can't beat 'em. Even though they only have a year warranty, a lot of places will exchange one no questions asked as long as you bought it from them. Both places I bough the rod from told me the same thing. .....but wait... BOTH of those places (Joes & Sportsmans) have been either bought out or went under! D'oh!! Aw crap. Well, hopefully I don't break them any time soon.
They are sold just about anywhere it seems. I'm sure that Fishermans probably has them and Wholesale Sports still carries them.

Demonick......  i have used the ugly stick medium light and Light for trolling and i really liked both of them. I have a 7ft Shimano medium that i am using for trolling for Salmon and it seems to be doing good.

Granted I don't have a ton of experience trolling from my yak, but what trolling I have done was with my Ugly Stick, and I had no problems at all.  I grew up lake trolling on the east coast with Ugly Sticks.  The medium-heavy that I have has an incredible amount of bend and it's very sensitive.  They have an outer surface made of fiber and an inner core of graphite.

And you can get a medium-heavy or heavy (deepwater is what they call the heavy's) for 30-50$

Element 21[ E21] has introduced a new version of their "carrot stix" line specifically for saltwater.("Salty Carrot Stix) Their website and online catalog does not show these yet, but i have run across them at the Cabela's display in Lacey.

these are all one piece rods that take a little bit of outside the box thinking to appreciate. If you like traditional cork handles and a bit of weight, you're gonna need a lot of time adjusting to them mentally. the grips are synthetic foam and minimalistic, which means there isn't all the gripping real estate  you may be used to.  oh, and when i picked up that $200.00 casting rod, it was OMFG! light. i think it's listed at only 3 3/4 oz. total weight for a 7ft. 2 in. long rod.

longest version i've found either in a catalog or in person has only been 7ft. 3 in.

http://www.e21sports.com/index.php

fresh water versions are also all one piece, and start at $150.00

havent been to sportco yet so i do not know if they carry these puppies. i do know that cabby's and BPS carry them in their online catalogs. and like i mentioned earlier, in the store there in Lacey.

have been looking hard at the Ugly Stik Tidewater and Intercoastal series rods. these seem to be geared more to my liking and budget. i don't troll an awful lot, i'm more of a park and cast or drift and bounce kind of fisherman and these seem to fill that bill more readily.

before joe's went tits up i found another series of rods called north by northwest that seemed to have promise. the 9 footers just screamed "perfect general purpose rod" but i never got the chance to really play with one.

Camera Make: OLYMPUS CORPORATION
Camera Model: u10D,S300D,u300D
Flash Used: No (Auto)
Focal Length: 5.8mm
Exposure Time: 0.0080 s (1/125)
Aperture: f/8.8
ISO equiv: 80
White Balance: Auto
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: program (Auto)

camera appears that i probably underexposed the subject because of bright sun reflecting off the glove.  A properly exposed shot would have shown more fish detail. As is, you get the shine through on the fins, and shadows are all lining up... so i'm not gonna say its been photoshopped in the slighted...
