I worked in the Ocean Kayak booth at the REI Paddle Demo Day at Stan Sayres Pit in Seattle all day today from 8 until 5.  Let me tell you, there was some GOOD interest in kayak fishing.  I met various vendors including Wilderness Systems, Werner, and Teva all of whom were excited about the direction this sport is taking.  I handed out over 20 business cards to interested people.  I'd say about 1/3 have already fished from a kayak, another 1/3 came specifically to find out more about the sport, and another 1/3 were stongly interested in trying it out. 3 people had even visited this site before!  I encouraged all to register here and introduce themselves.  If you're one of the people I met today ... WELCOME!  We're a small, but growing group, and I really enjoy the time I've spent kayak fishing with the people I've met here.  I've never met a kayak angler I didn't enjoy spending some time with.

The business cards pointed people to this site and I also mentioned our upcoming derby.  The derby got a lot of people attention.  Some of these people did not have kayaks and I encouraged them to hook up with some of you here who have extra kayaks and are willing to introduce people to what this is all about..  I'll do my part to take newbies out, as I'm sure you all will.  If you don't have an extra kayak, but would like to take a newbie out, let me know as I'm sure we can work something out whereby I loan you one of mine.  It's encouraging to see the interest in this sport grow.
