My RAM 1-1/2" ball mount adapter for the Scotty Compact deck mount seems loose in the deck mount.  Is this typical?  Included with the RAM adapter is a long stainless bolt, nylock nut, and fender washer.  There appears to be no use for this hardware with the Compact Scotty because the bolt is too short to emerge from the mount's down tube.  Am I missing something or this just the way it is?

Which ball mount unit is it??  This is the only one i'm aware of that is compatible with scotty flush mounts.

Tighten the screw expand the wedge and the ball is locked into place.

Thanks.  I'll try tightening it up with some fabric.  Will keep the wedgie in mind.

demonick..... how about a piece of pool noodle. wrapped around the ball or a piece of foam. it might be a better alternative then fabric. .. or how about one of those styraphome balls and just clean it out enough to set the other ball in .

Thanks for the suggestion.  The ball is fine.  It is the post into the Scotty Compact Deck Mount that is loose.
