Dragged my 6lb ball through Lake Chelan with 90 to 150 feet of line out this weekend.  Mount didn't move at all, and the yak didn't move a whole lot either!

I'm definitely going to shorten the beam and bring it closer in.  That should help speed my boat up since I won't be creating extra drag with such a harsh constant rudder turn.

Try moving down to 4# ball and make sure you're not going too fast.  You don't need to speed up.  You probably need to concentrate on slowing down.

Yeah, 6# for a lake is overkill and will most likely make things harder to deal with. In my experience 4# should be more than enough since there aren't any currents to deal with.
