Forecast for Cape Kiwanda on Thursday looks reeeealllly easy.  5@15, with sub 10 winds.

Anyone in, or who wants to try a launch area nearby within the 3 Capes route?  I am curious about other spots (and after seeing that Cabbie from Oceanside  :o ...)

High tide at PC will be 730ish, which means if we launch around 8 we can catch the tail end of slack and outgoing.  General plan is to head NW of the buoy, which I haven't done yet (just W of the Haystack)

I might be able to make it. I'm got to check on a few things though.

The launch is easy - if the forecast holds, then you are looking at ankle to knee high breakers rolling in at a leisurely pace.  The last four trips that I have gone out on at PC had forecasts with more wind and short wave period, and launching was pretty easy.

The trick is to just do it.  Expect to get dumped, and make sure to have everything tied/stowed to start.

yeah. It has to be done at some point. "Do or do not, there is no try."  While I want to get out there, I also feel like I'm lacking better essentials as well.  Have a shorty wetsuit (short arms and legs) and that's about it. Was well enough for the sound though...

oh yeah, could use a cart too...

as my boss says "soon"

The cart you don't really need for PC, if you have a rig that will take you down onto the beach - just line up with the trucks launching Dorys.  My Honda Element handles the sand okay.

Don't know about the wetsuit part.  Water is definitely on the chilly side.

I had a Saab once.  I don't think that saltwater would cause any problems.  You know, because saabs are not finicky cars at all.

if you're meaning Pelican Pub and Brewery, just look out the door towards the rock.. thats the place.
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

I'd wait until you have the right outerwear. A shorty wetsuit isn't enough, even for the sound. Like we always say, prepare for the water temp, not the air. ;) Until then study this. http://www.kayakfishingzone.com/howto/safari.html

Looks like I won't be able to make it out tomorrow. Weather looks like it should be real nice though. I would keep a watchful eye on the surf. As I'm sure you may have noticed, it looks like it's supposed to build later in the day.
