There is very little information on the lake out there.  If you look at drawn maps, you'll see one long-ish lake.  if you look at satellite images, you'll see an 'L' shaped lake.  I'm guessing one section is seasonal, and is what some people refer to as #3

I'm guessing it's fairly shallow.  Someone I know in the area says the lake hasn't been stocked since June (which i already knew from ODFW) and hasn't really been fished since July.  The water is "very warm" according to him.

At last stocking (June)  #1 got 500 lbs  while #2 got 2000 lbs...

Did the F&G stock the crap out of #2 to sustain a good fishery till 21 September (next stocking) or was it for a big fishing event like "kids day"?

Did they stock less in #1  because of the less fishing pressure or lower survivorability rates in this lake or.... were they trying to save money by not feeding all the 6-10 lb bass in there?

I think the first people to find 31 feet of water in # 2  will be in some great trout
fishing.

I predict the winning fish will be a catfish caught on a nightcrawler  center of the lake near the west end of #2.
second place: LMB  on a 6" Carolina rigged plastic worm on #2's north shoreline.
third: Trout  on powerbait in 30 feet of water.

I have a 230cc paddle, seat, a rod holder and a Malibu Two XL up for borrow. Before I unload my spare yak from my truck, does anyone need a yak to fish from?   I'll leave it on my truck till tomorrow morning, and if no one needs it, then I'll store it.

Also, how about we even the playing field and require everyone to ONLY use a Walmart/BiMart/Freddies kiddy rod/reel combo, like Barbie, Spongebob, Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, Hanna Montana.... etc?  $20 max!
No hot rodding the reel, or line changes.  Out of the box and go fishing.  ;D

These reservoirs must not be very old. I have an atlas of Oregon lakes from the early eighties, and there aren't any Big Creek Reservoirs. There is an Olalla reservoir 4 miles north of Toledo.

Thanks for the map Brian!

I really like this idea but I think it's too late to put those kinds of restrictions on this event.
I already have 3 of these and all have caught decent sized trout.

Hmmm, I guess we could make this voluntary and each person who chooses to use one could join a "pool" for overall Snoopy Rod winner....  But this would definitely be a side bet sort of affair.

According to Newport water, #2 is "much deeper relative" to #1.  Because of that, #1 is warmer than #2 and will cause more die off.  There was also a Kids Day shortly after the last stocking.

I figure that you're correct with the deep water assessment. Makes me wish I had a FF. Suppose I might bring my line counter to give me a decent estimate.

Seems you and I have done some of the same searching.  Did you happen to see the link that said there were muskies?

They should have appeared.  IIRC from my reading, they were constructed in the early-to-mid 50's.  They're not very big though, and are overlooked on a ton of online maps.

Also, how about we even the playing field and require everyone to ONLY use a Walmart/BiMart/Freddies kiddy rod/reel combo, like Barbie, Spongebob, Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, Hanna Montana.... etc?  $20 max!

Sounds awesome to me, but i'm already over budget till the weekend is over. Even a kiddie pole could break me at this point.

I checked out this place last year on a camping trip with the family.  There's a great staging/launching point right at the begining of #2.  See maps below

yeah, i was wondering if they had gotten the lakes confused, but nothing on the page mentioned the reservoirs in TX or CO... not sure the story on that one. Otherwise a 40# muskie on an UL rod right be the tournament and state record winner!

Family packing up the gear to head out tomorrow.  I see CY76 has a prediction for a winning catfish.  I need to know, are there any Channel catfish in this lake?  I heard of Bullhead, but I need confirmation.  Very important information.  Anyone? Anyone? Bueller...Ferris...Bueller?

I have secret bait just acquired this PM...not trying to intimidate...just sayin'...
