Thanks for the report, Drool. Nets are out of the Canal for the weekend thru Monday and go back in Tuesday. Chums are in heavy! That means NOW is the time to hit the Canal!
I'd better go start getting my stuff ready and loaded! I'm heading up the Canal via 101 tomorrow to visit my parents, and fishing it again on my way home, Monday.
Might just cast from the shore, since I know a couple of "less popular" spots that get good, but I'm thinking if the hordes have descended, then my Ultimate 12 would be awesome to anchor and cast from. >:D

Best of luck!  Not sure I'm up for it yet, but if I can gather a few WAF points tomorrow I may see you out there Sun. or Mon.  I paddle a tan T13.

Thanks for the tip regarding the net schedule.

Going to do some crabbing with Fishin-T Sunday, so 3rd trip in less than a week and I'll probably be fished out for a few days.  Maybe mid-week at the earliest for me. >:(

CHM & drool, where do you plan to launch from? This is a long weekend for me, and I'm headed to the canal on Mon for the chum run. It be nice to have a yakmate or two.

Rav, I've got jury duty starting Monday (the 9th) so unless when I check in on the county recording system Sunday eve. and they say my group doesn't need to show up, that day is probably shot.  Would love to get back out in the canal again though pretty soon.

Sorry Ravdakot. At the last minute, (en route to the Canal, in fact!) I changed my plans. I was driving over a bridge of a Grays Harbor tributary, notice rain clouds stacking up in the foothills above the Satsop, and suddenly decided to save gas and check my local river for Coho. So I hung a U-turn, launched on the lower river in the estuary, and paddled upstream against the current (tide had already changed).  I found some holding Coho, but they would not bite my flies, but I did C&R a fat 12" chrome searun cutt that nailed my green-over-white Clouser in the estuary.
I was fishing a # 6 Polar Shrimp Reversed Spider upstream. And then switched to a sparser, orange spider pattern. No love from the lovestruck fish. The Cutt saved my day. I missed another one that I saw jump in front of me when I was trolling. I felt it hit once when my fly passed over where it was holding, but when I picked up my rod and gave a few strips, nothing.
It rained or drizzled the whole time starting about 1/2 hour after I launched, and that's why I call this place "Warshintun!"

I love those little SRC. That has to be one of the feistiest fish in our waters. Sorry to hear neither you or drool will be able to join me. I'll post on how it turns out, and I'll try to leave a couple for the rest of our fellow fishers.
(no promises :evil4:)
