I'm starting to feel like they stole my rod tube storage idea. when did they come up with that idea I wonder.
That's not much of a new idea. The new Malibu kayaks have a rod storage idea like that.

it goes through a wall/bulkhead so no water enters the hull?

Well at least they're thinking about safety and sea worthiness. One day they might factor that for America. Kind of follows the stereotype that Brits/UK paddle sea kayaks in the sea, and Americans paddle sea kayaks in the lake....which is why 99% of N American kayaks are short, flatwater, overweight guy boats, and most UK kayaks are skinny and long.

They're basically building in sea kayak features to make it more seaworthy...perimeter lines, dry hatches, sleeker hull, finer bow & stern entries. etc.

The only thing they didn't think of for their "surf launches and landings" is that you need loose, dangly hand toggles to hold onto the boat in the surf while it's log rolling to the beach.

If you tried to hang on to those molded handles, you would be hurt or lose your grip when the boat rolls.

But whatever really, a pig with lipstick is still just a pig.

Insayn. they said the wiring goes thru the hollow metal tube right at the twist area to protect them and the scupper hole in the middle is where the hummingbird transducer goes if i understood it all right.

Yes, that is what they said, but the issue of cable twist still exists.  If I got one, I'd paint white arrows or some other indication on each side of the lid to remind me which way to twist, right one side, left on the other.
