OMR...  glad you can make it.  I've only been out a few times and have lots to learn myself.  Look forward to meeting you and SG, and our host rav.

Hello Rav etal, what channel on your hand helds do you monitor while on the water? If my meeting cancels, and it may, I may be able to wander out after 08:00  holt

Sure wish I could make this trip, but it's tough for me to get weekdays off this time of year.

Solo Point is a fairly good spot for cutthroat fishing & would be a great place to launch if you had a DOD sticker or day pass. They used to let civilians like me use the park, but it's now restricted to military personnel and veterans.

I hate to be a no show again but there's no way around it. It's been WAY too long since I've been out too.

Hope you all get out and have some fun. Post some pictures!!!

I can't make it this time, but we will meet up after your deployment.

I should have my new Yak by then & I would like to plan an outing at my lake house on Mayfield.

Lots of trout, a few small & large mouth bass, but I got to get me one of those Tiger Musky's.

All,

Based on previous reports on catch success, I think it might be important to point out that the limit for bottom fish in area 13 is 2 of any one species.  I can see how it will probably be easy to limit out once you retain maybe 2 starry flounders and 2 rock sole, or maybe 2 butter sole and 2 starry flounders.  Just try to be sure that you are not keeping more than 2 of one species and that any beyond that two are for sure of some other species.  Remember, starry flounders at least are 50/50 rt/left eyed so that is not a very good indicator of species.

Yeah... it's 15.  Here's the thread:  http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,2892.0.html

SquidGirl,

Dhoa!!!   Yep, okay, my bad!  I had not seen that thread and misread the regs partaining to sole and flounders.  "What are the odds that this could happen?" I can hear you asking.  I just now called the DFW and they confirmed what Demonick found (I still hadn't read that when I called them) while researching that previous thread.

Yes indeed, you CAN keep 15 of any mix of species of sole and or flounders (Bottom fish) in area 13.  And so there is still left intact at least ONE fun thing that you can fish for and catch a lot of right here in our new Salish Sea.

And thanks, Drool, for that handy link.  Otherwise I'd have nearly for sure not had the time to track it down.

Thanks Fishin-T for your checking up on the flounder limits.  Better to be careful.  Are you gonna venture down to our neck of the woods sometime?

Drool,

I'm hoping to make the outing on Tuesday if my cold doesn't progress to anything bigger.  I'll post a firm go or no-go by Mon. night.

I have a friend who lives on Anderson Island and so I checked around a long time ago as to what species we might go after from an island launch in kayaks.  I saw on the "Fish-n-Map" that the Nisqually Delta showed to be an excellent flatfish area.  I've never talked my friend into giving it a try, but I've been wanting to do just that for a long time.  So heres a perfect excuse to go for it.

Just click the square in the upper right of the reply labeled quote. After you type your response the "quote" will show up in gray/blue.
