Cockpit has a center hatch that opens up and is big enough for rods.

SWEET BOAT!
So it is an inch wider than the prowler 13? and two foot plus in length!
Are you going to be packing one with you when you visit?

1" wider than the 13.  1/2" wider than the 15.
2' 3.5" longer than the 13.  3" longer than the 15.

I don't think I'll have one in time before I visit.  But hopefully I will have one up in Seattle in July.

When you do paddle it, let me know what you think about me switching from my P-13.
I have a buyer for the prowler if I decide on the trident.
 I am 5'-8",
135#-140#
Permanent partial disability in the left shoulder so ease of steering helps me a lot.
Not having to push to the side a lot and such.
the ONLY reason I would switch is the GAPING CENTER HATCH!!

Well, congrats to OK, with this model. It looks like it pretty well addresses my concerns.

FFTW, I haven't seen one in person yet, so I haven't paddled it.

boxofrain, do you use a rudder to help your steering?  Just curious ...

Pisco, care to guess how this yak will ride?  I always have thought you have a good feel for boats.  OK claims it is the fastest yak in their fleet.  And with the harder chine they put on this yak, stability, at least primary stability, is probably better than the P15s.  The higher volume will also hopefully address some of the wet ride issues of the P15.  What do you think?

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.  As stated in other posts, there will be one of these offered up as a prize at both the Moutcha Bay derby and the Everett Derby.

Allen-

Hard to say much without seeing it in person and being able to compare it's shape to other boats, but I'll try!

Waterline length pretty much rules for determining a boats speed. I'd assume that since the overall length is a few inches longer than the P15, the waterline length is probably longer, too.

A harder chine, you say? I really want to get a good view of the bottom- it's the most important part of the boat. If it has a v-bottom and hard chines, that will help with primary stability, assuming the v isn't too strong. The extra 1/2-1 inches in beam will also help, as will the extra length. The cool thing about harder chines is that it'll allow leaned turns and improve the surf-ability of the boat. I'd go for knee straps!

Higher volume is gained by extra width and length; did OK increase the depth, too? In order to get a drier ride, the seat would have to be raised, relative to the waterline. That'll allow it to drain, especially if the scupper systems are improved.

The center hatch is a huge improvement- OK was behind the curve on that issue, compared to Cobra and Malibu. I want to be able to stow gear for rough water conditions, but I don't want have to crawl to the bow during those conditions!

The improved bottom and the center cockpit are the most important issues, to me. The other things are nice, but these are the ones that'll most affect the function of the boat. If we had a "thumbs up" emoticon on this board, I'd use it!  :P oh, and I'd be happy to test drive it, too; hint, hint.

I'd be thrilled to win one of the Tridents!! ;D

It does look like a sweet yak and I'd love to get in and see how I fit in one. Interesting notes on characteristics of the hull Pisco. I agree and think OK really stepped up their line with this one and will have a lot of people really happy that there's a real dedicated yak to fishing. It's going to be interesting to see a lot more companies step up and follow this and make stuff that'll really work. Then again rigging is just so fun!

Pole2, do you know if they put in the screw inserts for more rigging options too? They had that in the "Elite" for the NZ yaks and thought it was great for upgrading the yak without drilling holes in the hull.

Hope I can score one of these in the coming tourneys!!! ::)

Z, not sure about the screw inserts.  I hopefully will get my hands on one of these withing 2-3 weeks and will check for that.

So I was talking my sales rep today about the "rod pod".  He said he was surprised that he hasn't heard of anyone punching a hole through the middle storage bin in the Big Game.  It is very similar to the one in the Trident although I don't think it's as long.  I'm going to take a look at my Big Game and see how feasible it is.  My main concern is how usable it is to slide a 7' (or longer) one piece rod into the the hold.  With the Big Game being slightly shorter, it may not work for that.  But it would probably work just fine for a 2 piece rod.
