I found a picture of what I used for a telescopic shaft online...I just removed all the magnetic components and cut/capped the tip  and butt sections.

Perhaps something like this ... http://www.xshotpix.com/kayakmount.php

Jeff (waterwolfQCI) got them to make this or kayak fishing.  Perhaps they could do a similar mod for mounting FFs.

Thanks for pointing that product out polepole! That solves a lot of my problems.

very cool, I might need one of these too.   I have been wondering about using an Ipod video Nano in a waterproof case (I have a cool one for my Ipod that is waterproof) on an arm like this for fish porn action shots and surf launches and landings.  Small, light weight and not really that expensive.  Not sure about the video quality though?

I have a 5th gen nano.  For it's size and weight, and it being an MP3 player with fm tuner, the video is pretty amazing.

Sweet!  Looks like it'll work.  Ya might want to have a quick pillow fight with the head unit and see if the JB weld will hold up to some abuse. Ya don't want to hit the head unit off while trying to retrieve a rod strike, and knock it in the drink.   :o

Very cool idea indeed.

The jb weld is on there pretty good. I think the mount backing (cutting board material)would break before the jb weld.  the cap is still screwed on there so if the weld does fail the head wont fall off.   I plan to use a 1 piece cap/mount  in the future.  Eventualy this will be condensed into a neat 4 piece kit (are you reading this RAM?)

1 flush mount   2 telescopic shaft  3 mount/cap 4 piece of closed cell for shaft.

Nicely done!  I like the cutting board and sub-hatch in the rodpod also.  I've gotta ask though, How much does it weigh now?

I'm not sure Spot ???  If I had to guess I'd say about 73-74 lbs (60 lb base). That includes FF,7 ah battery, mounts, rod holders , empty bait tank, and rudder.

Now throw in an anchor, wind sock, a few rods/reels, dead fish, lunch, net, gaff, 3 lbs of jiggs/tackle, radio, and  my 215 lb butt ...Whew it adds up quick.  But thats why they give me 550 lbs to work with ;D

Yeah that would be awesome!   My wife says I should make a short video showing how it works,  how it installs, and how sturdy it is.  and post it on Youtube.  I agree with her that pictures alone just don't give it its full credit.

Thank's
Brian

I was just curious how much weight you'd be shouldering for loading and unloading.

She's a beast thats for sure.  But most of the exrta weight is already off by the time I load/ unload.  If I do have any trouble I refer to the emergency can of spinich in my glove box ;)

Looks nice!  Is the cutting board mounted on the stock Rod Pod lid or is that a fiberglass or machined replacement?
