I'm still planning on it.  I can always find a lee shore somewhere on Sucia to fish.  Hope to see you and Z.

I heard he got caught sticking his gum to the underside of the pew at church, and that the pastor is making him clean ALL the gum off ALL the pews in his church.  Church seats something like 1000 holy butts.  ;D

Sorry for the absence HBH et al. I've actually been a good boy. Work has been really great lately! I probably won't be able to check in as much as normal because of it but I will be around to hand out an ass hat or two if needed.. >:D BTW my church doesn't have pews.. just the one padded seat.. that's in my yak. ;)

Judging from the winds, he may have won the midnight wakeup call you got last year  ::)  Hopefully he bagged some decent lings for those of us that didn't make it out.

Something about rough seas makes fish bite.  I'll post a full report after I untangle and dry out.

The weather on Saturday was surprisingly nice compared to the marine forecast.  Calm winds and sun for most of the day.  Sunday was a different story but still plenty of good fishing water on the North and East side of the island.  And the big winds forecasted for today chased us off the water Sunday night, instead of the planned departure of Monday.  I'm glad I'm not out in those 45 mph gusts right now.

I hit big lings right away each day on the money bait - a root beer split tail with shrimp fly ganion.  After that, I switched to my lighter rod with a Burkley Gulp Ghost Shrimp (new penny) and tried for Cabezone.  No cabbies but the rockfish bite was insane.

I remember last year being in a panic because I had no rockfish the entire weekend.  I finally managed one in the last few minutes of fishing.  As is always the case, when you don't want one, they go crazy.  This year, I probably caught 40 rockfish, some pushing 16 inches, but most 10 to 12 inchers.  During one stretch, I caught them on every cast for a stretch of about 7 casts.  All swam back down to the deep unharmed because I was never deeper than 60.

I even spent some time bouncing shrimp and Gulp minnows around the bouys trying for flounder.  No flounder but I did net a surprise Greenling.
