I'm thinking about re-riggin my rod holders very soon.  I want to do the same thing you did with yours, BUT, using something else for the tightening.  I'm thinking bicycle wheel tighteners instead of wingnuts.  Think that's doable?  I want serious quick-release as I'd have to remove them every time I put the thing on my GF's XTerra.

Im able to slide the mounts off quickly by just loosening the wingnuts enough so that the mount can slide freely, then it will slide right out at the end of the track. WS did a great job of leaving room at the end of the track so this is possible. Still, im interested in what you come up with.
I still need to craft some cutting board into slideboard mounts.
too many projects

I'm gonna stick with the wingnuts.  I'll be crafting cutting board mounts myself.  I hope I ordered the right length screws.  What length did you use?

Time to get yourself a small truck for your yaks.   8)

3/4" for the threaded part of the wingbolts.
For what its worth, I just spent some time trolling lakes with 2 rods using this system and really enjoyed it.
hope you do as well.

I'm sure I'll love it.  Right now I have to scooch forward to reach all my stuff, but this is my first fishing yak, so experimentation is needed.  I ordered the wrong size screw, but I'm sure home depot can fix that for me.   :)
