I was worried about this when I installed mine. I have a thin layer of Goop covering the plastic but I don't seem to have any resolution problems. However, you never really know what you don't see!!!  ???
Trace the outline of the inside of the area in your foam puck with an exacto knife and then carefully peel the dried up goop away. It's not that hard to do as long as you have a sharp blade. I've fished a few times when I didn't have time to do that step and it's always resulted in a cluttered up screen and the bottom reading bouncing around. So it's not really a matter of not knowing what you don't see but rather seeing too much.

Will I be able to see the fish laughing at me?  :(

Ok, still trying to sort through this. I think I'll try the pool noodle technique. If I do that, do I even need to bother with any glue or goop or foam (other than the pool noodle of any kind)?

Doesn't the transducer get pressed directly to the bottom of the hull? Or do you still need a small pool of water contained on the bottom for the transducer to shoot through?

Also, what about the trailer light attachment? What exactly do I need here?

And what about where the wiring comes out of the batter box? Do I need something to seal that opening up?

Thanks for the great tips here.
