My understanding is that the bottom of poly kayaks are intended for moving in water with the dispersed load, and are not designed for sitting on a hard surface.  Check your owner's manual as it should specify that it be stored on an end, on it's side, or upside down on it's rails. If they added enough plastic to the w-shaped rounded bottom of the 'yak to make the bottom able to bear it's weight when a small area were bearing all of the load, I'm sure the thing would weigh far too much to be practical when pedaling/paddling, and the other areas of the mold would be so thick that you wouldn't be able to mount anything at all through areas like the rails.  It's seems to be a necessary trade off when using a relatively soft material like this plastic.

Below are a few links to Hobie's storage specific Video Owner's Manual and to the list of all the Video Owner's Manual sections.   ;D

Y'all may have noticed I have not become a big fan of the Revo boat, though I am a HUGE fan of the mirage drive, but still, it is hard to believe the Revo hull cannot support its own weight out of the water.  I assumed it was some esoteric hull design for an extra fraction of a knot or added stablity.  The "depression" does not correspond with either location where the Wheelez cart cross-members contact the bottom of the hull.

Is it soft in that area? RevoRoy had a problem with the bottom being soft and flat on his first Revo, they replaced it with a new one.

Yes, I've been surprised at how soft is the bottom of the hull.  Oh, shit.  I REALLY don't want to do all my mods over because of a crappy manufacturer.  I guess I'll take a photo and send it off to Hobie.   And they charge a premium for the "Hobie" name.

I forgot to ask how do you store the Yak?

On the Wheelez cart with the bungees released so the yak is just sitting on the cart.  The bottom contour does not correspond to the placement of the cart.

Not the one that sticks into the scupper holes with the single bar with a pad i hope? That's not a great way to store the Yak, no matter what kinda cart it is really. I would store it on the side or upside down. The nice thing about the outback is it sits on it's side without being propped against anything, rests perfectly on the lips that the paddle rests on.

No, not through the scuppers.  The Wheelez has two padded cross members about 12" apart.

Weather is nice today, I'll pull the yak out and photograph the hull.

Wish I could.  Got a few folks coming over who are interested in buying the old truck.  Then have committed to other endeavors.  With the local weather forecasting so poor, it's hard to get weather guessing/planning right.  Looks like I missed it by a day.  I'm looking at the near-glassy water now and it's killing me.

Yea, i drove down to Sunset and looked at it, still a bit rough. Probably tomorrow. Maybe an evening session if the wind stays down, the swell is dropping.
