I have a Hobie Adventure and just got my Hobie Trax "2" cart today.  I was all excited because my old wheels were so crappy and hard to use...but then I realized that while the wheels are removable on the trax, the frame doesn't quite fit in the hull storage.  But it *almost* fits...so I am wondering if there's some combination of movements that will get it in there. I've tried a bunch, but as close as I can get it's still about an inch and a half from dropping in.

Kind of frustrating, because it is an expensive accessory.  If Hobie had gone one step further and made the axle removeable rather than welded to the frame, it would be infinately more store-able.  If it won't fit I suppose I can strap it on back, but obviously hull is ideal.  Any help appreciated!

I drop mine into the same scupper holes from the top then bungie to the yak.  Have not tried removing the wheels and placing them inside then just have the frame sticking up. Have been thinking that this might create a nice rack situation it butts up to the crate.

Yeah I thought about that but the pins stick down through the bottom of the boat.  I guess it's not that big of a deal though.

Are you using the Hobie Kayak Cart "Post Collar/Clamp Kit? Part #80044201? That is designed I beleive to relieve stress to the scuppers as well as allow you some adjustment room. With the beach type wheels on, my pins stick about 1" below the yak when turned upside down in the scuppers.  Others on this forum with way more experience than I can tell you if this is a real problem or not.  holt

I wish they'd come up with a cart you can swap hard and balloon wheels with.  Where I'm at you need both.

Hobie offers both versions.  I wonder if they would sell someone their "other" wheels?

I spoke with Hobie last week about this and there is currently NO hardware available that allows you to switch between the two types of wheels.  I encouraged them to look into it.
