Hey All,
I was thinking of spending a few days fishing for lake trout, kokanee and big browns at Crescent Lake. Macs are being caught these days and it is getting warmer. I've emailed about renting a yurt on April 30th, May 1st and 2nd (Fri, Sat and Sun nights). My plan would be to drive down from PDX directly after work, getting in too damn late...fish Sat, Sun and Mon. If these yurts are like others, they'll sleep 5-6 comfortably and have a small fireplace. The campground is right next to Crescent Lake Resort so all their amenities will be close by as well.

Anyone care to join me for any or all of this?

I just got the word from the manager that all 3 yurts are available at $30/night, sleeping 5. I'm booking one for myself (why sleep on the ground when it's not necessary). Four other spots are open at $5/night.

Zee, you're welcome to join in the fun... ;D

It's official. I got Monday, May 3rd off so I'll be fishing Crescent/Odell Lakes on Sat, Sun and Mon. I'll reserve a yurt for Fri, Sat and Sun nights.

Any/all welcome for a mac attack  :D

Sounds like fun! But after taking last week off for the Georgia tourney, then this weekend off for the wife's birthday, i'm kinda out of time. No one at work knows who I am.

This sounds like fun. I have to be back sometime Monday for Tuesday meetings.  Odell is kicking out big Macs.  I'm game for part of the yurt.  Does it have electricity?  Just curious.

Wonder if I can get the downrigger set up in time.

I'll find out about power in the yurt but my guess is that they do have it. I'll pass on more info after I make the reservation.

My downrigger setup took probably 1 hour of actual working time once I had all the parts I needed.

Mapquest says Crescent lake is 5 hours, 35 minutes from Tacoma.

I have an old school Scotty Laketroll clamp mount but want to go with their bracket mount (nothing to clamp to).  Maybe I can sell it on iFish or something.  Only other issue I can see is I use Folbe rod holders and want to use those brackets.  Wonder if there's an option for that.

I'll just be trolling with 1-3 oz banana weights. No DR love on the Big Game for me.  :'(

You might want to try a sliding sinker set up over the fixed banana weight. I've personally had better luck with it when not using the DR. It makes it a lot harder for the fish to find slack in the line that way. Just my .02
