Anyone from Salem check out the forecast for this weekend? It's still a bit early to make plans...but it looks promising.

You know me. I've been watching it like a hawk!  ;)

Sunday looks like the day to go. It doesn't look perfect, but as far as March goes its looking pretty good.

I'm thinking of heading down to PC Sunday. Not sure if I'm surfing or fishing yet....looks like a good long boat day at 6ft and I haven't caught a wave in a while.

Might surf Sunday and fish tillamook jetty Monday if anyone wants to go fishing Mon. let me know. I could be talked into other spots.

I might head out there on Sunday. We'll have to see what the forecast does though.

It's already changing. up a foot in swell and +5mph wind. Looks like the window between big & nasty conditions is closing.

I'm thinking if it keeps growing, I'll fish inside the jetty at tillamook or netarts.

Anyone ever fish the jetty at netarts? I haven't yet, but I hear there's greenling and lings to be had.

There is no jetty in the sense of the "Tillamook jetty" on Netarts bay.  If you mean the rock breakwater around the inlet/mini harbor and the boat ramp then no there are no lings or greenlings of consequence to be had and if there are they are teeny tiny.  Folks catch small sculpins and other little fish only BSteves could identify off those rocks, but I have never heard of anything bigger than about 10-12 inches.   On good minus tide you can walk the outside edge of the breakwater on the sand and not get your feet wet.  Better luck would be chasing the perch on the eel grass beds.

That was my thought when my buddy said he wanted to go to netarts. a look at google maps a minute later confirmed the giant sand pile with no rock structure I remembered from driving down 101. Not sure what he's thinking. Tillamook still looks like the best spot for ling fishing "inside" & PC outside.

Just noticed this myself.  I'm still thinking of dusting off the boat on Friday to see what I can find.  Might keep it REAL simple and stripped down, go in expecting a super huli and come out laughing.
I ended my season last year with an epic huli that snapped my werner carbon shaft paddle in half when the rope I had tied to it and my boat got stuck on my leg after riding a 6' wave sideways for a while.  That's one good thing about lightweight paddles, when you screw up and realize you shouldn't have rode in with a paddle attached, it's an easy break that only hurts your wallet.
If I go, I'll give a report.

I'm planning on springbreak with family at PC Mon-Friday.  I'm bringin' the yak and gear just in case an opportunity presents itself.  I hope so...
Anyone else got plans?

Myself and DTS will be down at Sandlake campground up against the estuary Mon-Thursay (Spring Broke).  We'll be playing around in that water, and possibly Netarts as well.

Insayn & DTS spring breakin' at PC.  I hope the weather shines for all.  The seven day forecast isn't bad, but there is room for improvement.

The weather can be crappy.  We are taking backup plans with us.  We're hauling 5 ATV's down to play in the sand.

Cool. I finish finals tomorrow and need to spring break hard (2 days Sun/Mon).

I'm not sure where we're going yet, but I'll keep an eye out if we hit PC or netarts for a surf. I'm in a black drysuit, yellow pfd & red/gray sea kayak & black paddle. GF will be in a white sea kayak w/ red stripe.

I'm thinking Sun fishing tillamook jetty, Mon paddle/surf netarts, as I haven't before.

Well it looks like tomorrow might be the only window for the next few days. The good news is that I'll have Thursday off next week. It seems to be better when I can't get free... >:(

Good luck to those spring breakers out there. Be safe.

I won't be heading out this weekend I decided. Looks like there might be a steady off-shore breeze tomorrow. If anyone decides to go out, be mindful of how far out you go.
