Dudes I'm sorry to say I will not be attending the ORC. I wasn't approved for the time off :'(

anyone going to still be there Sunday? I might still try and come on Sun. if people are going to be hanging/fishing.

J

Don't you get "sick time"?  Just say your eyes hurt, and you can't see yourself coming into work.
Or...just tell them that you are working remotely next weekend.   ;)

Pelagic, I'll bet NANOOK is worried that you'll challange him to a boat race or something.   :boxing:

That's surprising.. with all the business from this site that gets sent in the direction of your bosses shop you would think it would be in his best interest to have a shop rep. at a local event.  Maybe next year ;D

That's a very good point. If any of them at your shop were serious about attracting the business of the kayak fishing community, THEY would be paying your entry fees to compete and plug the logo a bit, let alone just giving you the time off to go.

I was surprised myself. the problem is we don't have any other staff to cover my absense. I have one person to cover my Friday, but everyone else is already working...9xclasses/4xtours/3xshops on Saturday.

If I can find someone to cover Sat, I'll be there. I just can't think of who it would be.

The boss wants me to do it, but it's a rock and a hard place thing.

With the sweet February weather we've had until today, sales have been poor. I kind of understand them wanting to make up the losses in the coming weeks.

I was/am getting a little nervous :) maybe I should bring the "fast" boat just in case I have to put up!

well right now I fish from the surf specific sea kayak, but only because I'm waiting for the touring specific sea kayak to arrive. The touring one is what I've intended as my main fishing yak and it's got less rocker and longer waterline and is quicker off the line.

the surf one is great to fish from, but it sucks loaded to 400lbs paddling in 3-5ft seas, 2kts current, and 25kts wind. stable and agile, but all the rocker makes it sloooooooow.

I might have found someone to cover for me. So for now at least, looks like I might be able to make it.

I guess I'm confused. Is the group site already reserved by NWKA and we pay you guys? or do we reserve a separate site for our tents through Chinook Bend?

Camping is separate
just give them a call and say you need reservations for this weekend and she'll ask if you're "setting up a tent with the Northwest Kayakers"

I just called an hour or so ago :D

you'll need a card for first night deposit
