I, like the rest of you, wanted to know if Friday was just a fluke.  So, I met up with my back-packing buddy at O'dark:30 for another try.  It was a beautiful, warm morning and I couldn't help but notice all the dogwoods coming into bloom as I made my way to the car.

The morning was fairly uneventfull.  To say the bite was slow would be an understatement, especially after the good bite I saw on Friday.  It was scratch fishing at best and I only counted 3 hookups by the PB'ers by noon.

After a pee break and some nourishment we were back on troll against a fairly heavy current.  Progress was less than .5MPH and I opted for a 6oz. weight to ensure I was in the zone.

Looking up at the shore I silently remarked to myself that I'd hooked a few fish in this location.  And, as if on queue, my rod starts a slowly throb.  "No Way..."  Yup!  Throb, throb....BENDO!  Ka Ching!  Chrome lovin' flopping around in my lap.

Further on, as I was looking for a good chance to cross to the other side, a large offshore fishing boat comes barreling toward me looking to shoot the gap between me and the small dingy style boat <30 feet to my left.  Sure as $#!T, though there was no traffic on the other side, they came flying between us in their deep V, grinning from ear to ear.

I screamed a choice profanity at them as they cruised by and they instantly dropped off plane, acting as though it was my fault....  Before I could address them though, I had to swing into the foaming 3' wake and by the time I could turn back to them, they were back on plane, wearing the same stupid grins....  But I digress....

Every time that I side slip across a river from one side to the other, I wonder if it's possible to hook a fish that way.  I think I was wondering that as I made my way more latterally than forward when..... wait for it.....  wait for it...... wait for it...... Throb...throb...throb.. BENDO!!!!

I was loving the walk back to my car with a limit on the clip!  Every jaw dropped and even the fish checker was beside herself.
Most boats had scratched up maybe 1 fish for 4 rods today and the kayak guy checked a limit.  ;D  When I asked what the score for the day was, the gal from DFW smiled and said, "You just doubled it!"

as the water temp keeps climbing the hardware bite will keep improving..  Water temp was 55.5 today in the OC area.  Chartruse with green dot (aka light bulb) blades in front of a tasty prawn has been finding quite a few finned friends in my boat

That's pretty sweet dude.

I haven't been fishing since Lake Washington a few weeks ago, and that was for less than an hour   >:(

Kudos to another fine days fishing. I wish there was some action like that in my neck of the woods!

Damn Spot, those are some beaut's.  I think we should all pitch in for Spot to spend the summer in a barren desert... but he'd still manage to catch a fish in a mirage. ;D

I'm still sporting goose eggs for the season.  :-[
