Tossing around an idea for having a Small, most likely MBF(money between friends) tournament. Who know's might be able to scare up some prizes..

Insayn will already be here(camping at Sunset) and i'm sure a few of loc's will be into it. Just wanna see who might interested in coming for some fun and food. We can have a BBQ or a fish fry at the beach or my house after the tourny and i got tons of parking and floor/tent space on my new property.

For a format i was thinking something a little different. A combination of the longest rockfish, cabezon,Ling. And add the longest greenling. That way, it forces you to try different tactics and a person that doesn't get a Ling still could win with a good combo of a Black and a greenling. You don't need to catch both to qualify, a monster ling could win it.. we can hammer out the other details later.

I know it's not the best weekend, since alot of people have traditional stuff they do on that weekend but i think we can get at least ten people, maybe more..

So, post up if you are interested and we'll see what happens.
See ya on the water..
Roy

Dang Roy, you came out of hibernation with a vengence this year!!!!

I'm in!  I reserved my spot last fall, as I totally want to try out those fishing grounds.
A tourny would make it all the better.

Ooooh, I have a couple ideas just to throw out there!
* We could see who can land the biggest fish with one of them tiny super hero poles.
* See who can catch the most spiecies regardless of size or retention laws.  CPR, or a witness is all that is needed to count that fish.

HeHe, yes, I have a couple of folks that may be interested as well.
I will call them and see what they think about it.
I have yet to recruit many Yakkers here, I was hoping to get an official "calling card" from Admin. here, to hand out to folks or just leave on their vehicle when I find them parked. Until then, I talk to as many as I can catch!

Sounds good!  I am pretty sure I'm in at least one of the days if not both.  Just depends on work and if any overtime is available.  Hopefully I can get a depth finder by that time on my boat.  It was good to see you the other day Roy.  If you see the skipper tell him hi for me.  I will get a hold of you guys soon this season.

Roy you could make it an AOTD (Angler of the Day) tournament.  Use the same points per inch rules as AOTY and who ever gets the biggest one day total wins.    If you're really crazy, you hit Sunset in the morning for your ling, cab, rockfish, greenling and then run out to a local lake in the afternoon to get some freshwater AOTD points.

hmm, that's not a bad idea. "The Sunset Bay Angler Of The Day Tournament" I like it.

i'd rather keep it on the salt, i don't want someone with too much energy running off and winning the thing with an 8 inch trout..

Do you guys like that format? i do.

Also, with length measures, you can CPR as long as you get a good pic with a measuring device.

No Calibutt in the far south region yet.
I believe they start showing up around the end of May here (usually).

Got it on my radar and calendar so at this point I'd say yes - I'll be headed down for that.

For the Calibutts, I believe the area I'm referring to in the bay is actually Jordan Cove over by the R X R tracks (across from the airport).  If they're in Brookings in May they should certainly be up to the Coos by July.
