I went to the fish ladder because I was in the area yesterday and boy oh boy.. there were a lot of healthy lookin' Chinook's in there :o! After watching them, guessing how much they weighed, freaking about how bad I wanna catch one I decided to go early this morning. What a beeeeautiful morning!! Clear skies & no wind. I paddled w/ some special chinook gear... and paddled some more. No hookups. There were about 4 boats working the area and I saw at least two fish landed. I was really enthused because of the action so I took a few more hours off work and worked the spot. Unfortunately I ended up with a whole lotta nada.. :'( Oh well. Gonna go back but have to wait a little until my arms and shoulders recoup. I paddled for 6 hours straight!  :P

Z,

Between you, Matt, and Jesse, Yall have got me chomping at the bit (even with a report of getting BLANKED!?!?!)

So you want to go again Saturday? ;D

Thinking about driving up that way Friday night and fishing the morning.
Or should I stay in my neck of the woods and try Pacific Beach? (cuts at least an hour and a half off the drive )

Whoa, six hours straight! Good work (out)!

I'm thinking of heading to Elliott bay tomorrow morning to dodge the crowds...

Where are you launching from? I may be game since that area has been putting out some nice Chinook recently.

If you've never fished Elliott Bay before, "dodging the crowds" and Elliott Bay shouldn't be used in the same sentence.  There are usually 50-100 boats out there at first light.

It's the only place where my kayak has actually been rammed by a yahoo in a powerboat spending more time looking at his downriggers than where he's going.

I might be out there tomorrow, launching from the beach just north of Salty's at dawn.

Ha, there's two ways to interpret "dodging the crowds"!

By dodging the crowds, I was going for the literal interpretation... to the left, to the right, slow down, speed up... dodge, dodge, dodge!

 ;)
