You can tell that kayak fishing is really taking off in the Northwest by the fact that the OSP recently reported multiple game violations by kayak anglers.

According to the OSP Fish and Wildlife Divisions March newsletter:
"Sr. Tpr. Van Prooyen (Gold Beach) and Sgt. Lea (Coos Bay) observed two subjects angling from a kayak in the Pacific Ocean at Chetco Point. About 15 minutes later, the anglers landed their kayak on the beach. Upon contact, one subject said he did not have an angling license and denied angling. When advised he had been observed angling, he apologized for lying. Van Prooyen issued him a citation for No Nonresident Angling License."

AND

"While waiting for commercial boats at the Port of Port Orford, Tpr. Barden (Gold Beach)
observed an angler in a kayak land on the beach. Barden checked the angler and located
an undersized lingcod among his catch. The angler was instructed on how to properly
identify lingcod and cited for Unlawful Possession of Undersized Lingcod."

Hi all, newbe southern Oregon old guy here. I've never fished the oregon coast before.
I've got the since to check for size limits for fish. But the no fish zones has got
me a little confused on how to find them? I looked at the regs. and it looks like I need a very detailed map to figure where not to go. Is there a simpler way to find out the no fish zones?

You can fish pretty much everywhere, just not in the tide pools.

The reserve areas are the tide pools and beaches, not the actual ocean, not yet at least...
