I tried a moderate speed yak tow with my sled on flat water in Netarts Bay and you can take my word for it, at least for a Fish and Dive, it doesn't work very well at all :o   I'd recommend having the beer(s) before you try, not after ;D

I too looked at all the ATV and CB whips out there... I even used an old fishing rod for a few trips, butt it was too light and kept bending in the wind (too far). I ended up cutting a nice 7' piece of Myrtle wood new growth branch.
 After drying for a month or two, it is a very sturdy pole. PVC makes it fit in the rodholder juss fine.
