The girlfriend had some issues getting thru to the Chinook Bend Campground on their 541-994-9357 line and they were unable to take reservations over the internet.  If anyone else has had this issue, Chinook Bend has an alternate phone number.  You can reach them at 800-203-6364.

There's no problem with their reservation system, we just called them and told them about you coming, and to give you some grief.   ;)

Wait till you find the banana.  >:D

Another item  easily forgotten about, to add to the "must have" list for attending the ORC this year.

Oregon State Marine Board appointed new "Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit" required on human powered watercraft 10' and longer, and all registered powerboats.

They are easily available at any desk that print Oregon fishing licenses.

Here is the link to their FAQ's.

Hey Spot - It's been a couple of weeks but I paid up via the link on the NWKA site.  If you don't have a record of it I may still have the confirmation email, but I am paid.  If we get out on the ocean I'm 95% sure my daughter will fish also.  Please let me know if you don't have a record of my paid entry.  Thanks - Alan

Hey Alan/All,

I don't actually have access to the payment records.  The Paypal account is managed by Bryce (whom you guys may know is focusing on the new job and new baby at the moment).

I appreciate your patience while I fumble thru keeping this info. up to date!!!

Please mark me down as "slacking"

I'm also having trouble getting the regulation to download and/or view it.  Could someone post (or summarize) the applicable rules for the marine fishing, as well as for the river where the campground is?

What?  If the rules aren't perfect you're not coming?   Man, Washington really beats you guys down with their regulations.   Let's just say they're fairly generous compared to Washington.  Rockfish and lingcod are open year round on the coast.

What exactly do you want to know?  If you're just sticking to rockfish and lingcod..

you can use up to 3 barbed hooks at a time
you can only use one rod at a time
you can use a gaff to land the big fish
you can use live bait fish as bait in the ocean if you catch them on the spot (i.e. sardines, anchovies, herring, and smelt) and you can use
a many hook herring jig  (sabiki) for these.

Limits:
7 rockfish (no size limit), greenling (10" min), or cabezon (16" min)
no yelloweye or canary rockfish
2 lingcod (22" min)
15 surfperch
25 flounder

I think that covers most of it.
I'll have to look up the current salmon and river regulations as I don't have those memorized.

I also believe the nearshore halibut season will be open unless they reach the quota first. Currently there is 28% (2,598 lbs) of the sport quota left.

Oh, and only two hooks at a time are allowed if you want to catch halibut.

The rules won't decide if I'm coming or not.

I asked the marine rules because I want to know and couldn't get it to download (we just upgraded to new browser over the weekend and it's not playing nicely with adobe)

I asked the question about the river so I can tell my GF what she's allowed to fish for at the campground - it makes it easier to get her to go that way.

Well, if someone was to host a Puget Sound rockfish tournament I'm pretty sure the regulations would certainly stop me from coming.

I'd have to agree with that.  I just wanted all info I could get.

I finally got the thing to download, and it looks like you can retain an aggregate of 2 Chinook or adipose clipped Steelhead. on the Siletz river.
