I asked my doctor for a prescription for Scopace, and he responded that the drug is no longer available in pill form in the United States.  Does anybody know anything about this?

Yes, I heard that back in 2011 and was still able to get it from my local BiMart as of 2013.

I have recently read that you can get your Scopace prescription filled by a compounding pharmacy.
The mg dose may be less per unit, so will have to adjust accordingly.

Looks like I will be giving my local compounding pharmacy a look see for a new script.

The ReliefBand is FDA approved (and clinically proven) to end nausea in chemotherapy patients, immediately.  Costly and only somewhat waterproof, but it works instantly for me.

Dramamine and Scopolamine both make you drowsy/lethargic and Scopolamine can make your vision blurry.  Bonine is effective for me - and it doesn't make me feel lazy.

Before I got the ReliefBand, I swore by ginger root (dietary supplement).  Take one 540mg tablet the day before and the morning of - and every four hours if needed.

Even with the electro-shock band, I'll chew ginger gummies throughout the day, and carry a thermos bottle of ginger root tea with me.

The accu-pressure bands helped, but they didn't help me much if it was rocking and rolling.

Good luck.  It surely does detract from a good day of fishing.

I probably already posted this before somewhere in this thread, but I have also found the product MotionEaze essential oils dabbed behind the ear helps with motion sickness.  I just got tired of the overpowering scent, I think it may have effected my catch ratio negatively if I somehow got this oil on any of my fishing gear.  Easy to do on a kayak.   :-\

I should add the disclaimer that the last time I was violently seasick was during a Medevac on a small fishing boat that had to be the nastiest, foulest-smelling thing I have ever been near - and I was inside it.  Made rotting fish smell like cherry blossoms.

I don't know if it was the motion or the stink that got me, but I don't chance it.

Just read the label and compare the active ingredients in the Scopace against the other motion sickness drugs. Why pay for Bonine when something else has the same active component for 1/4 of the price?  My girlfriend is an RN she does this with all her over the counter drugs.

Meclizine is the generic name for "not-sleepy" Dramamine.  Bonine, Antivert, Meni-D, and Antrizine are brand names for the same drug.  Meclizine is cheap over the counter.

I picked up a prescription of Scopolamine patches today.  The normal prescription is six patches, but the pharmacy only had two in stock, so I took them.  The cost after insurance was $36.80 ($18.40 per patch).  Yikes!  You have to pay to play.  The good news is that they are supposed to last for 3 days each.

I have chummed the water a few times and can say a great day catching fish out weighs the chum chum for me, once I'm catching fish the taste seams to clear right up, plus once I toss my breakfast overboard I'm usualy good the rest of the day.

On the subject of chum after taste...I have found that the Subway Cold Cut Combo with EVERYTHING on it tastes good both times.  Nothing else has been quite as impressive to me the second time over the tongue and gums.  And the wilted lettuce and spinach have a weird look to them when they hit the water.   :puke:

Too much information.  WAY too much information.

You can still find the older version of the ReliefBand (replaceable batteries) on eBay.  Nuff said.

They're making them with replaceable batteries again.  Got mine through Amazon.

I have a question for users of Scopolamine patches:  Do you stick them in the conventional place behind your ear, which is outside of your dry suit, or do you stick them someplace which will be inside your dry suit?

Behind the ear.  Just make sure you clean that spot first and dry it well.  If you have any oil or water on your skin the adhesive won't work as well.  DAMHIK.

Oh,  bit don't be alarmed if you're a little dizzy the first 10 minutes or so after you wake up.
