It would be cool if they would make Scopolamine in a cream/ointment form.
This way you could apply as needed, and wipe off what you don't at the end of the day.

Get up and do it all over again.

Scop patches are spendy (no coverage at all for me, so $23 each last time) but definitely worth it.  A little dry mouth is all I get for side effects.  Doesn't mean I don't still chum, but it makes it possible to puke and recover, rather than being down for the count.

You know another thing I just thought of that came with my experimenting with trying to keep my stomach from getting all angry while on the water is that an empty stomach does not help things.   At one point I used to purposely skip breakfast and just drink water prior hitting the salt.

That was a bad idea and two things happened doing this.
1. Lost energy really quick, and my stomach rumbled all day.  Very distracting, and tiresome.
2. When I did eventually lose it, it was pure water and then dry heaves from then on out.  Painful and exhausting!

Now it's always a filling breakfast, but low on greasy, meaty, or cheesy content.  A couple of hard boiled eggs, granola bar (or two), or pop tarts, or even some quick oatmeal and some kind of dried fruit mixed in.

Carry snacks on board and keep the fire burning so energy is stays up.

Update....

I contacted a local Compounding Pharmacy recently and inquired about getting Scopolamine in other forms other than the patch.
Not only where they happy to help me, they rattled off that they do creams, gels, and capsules.

All I had to do was get my Scopace 0.4mg prescription renewed from my doc, and get that to them.
So I met up with my doc, talked his ear off about kayak fishing in the ocean and poof, "Bob's your uncle".

With the new prescription in hand I headed to Pacific Compounding Pharmacy in Hillsboro Oregon and chatted with the nice folks there.
Easy as pie, they had 30 capsules ready for me the next day (although I didn't pick them up for nearly a week due to other commitments).

Now, I was thinking that this was going to get expensive after hearing what Lee forks out for the patch at $18 a pop.
Nope!
$27 for 30 capsule, and if I was really blowing through them I can get a discount at $36 for 60 capsules.  These being 0.4mg per capsule and the same as my old tablets from Hope Industries, I usually only need 3 per day.  I take one an hour before hitting the water. Then take one every 4-5 hours afterwords.

That's 10 trips in the salt for a measly $27 of gut insurance.

Finally getting this resolved was like getting a monkey off my back.  I was not looking forward to having to use the patch as I am sure I would have had
some blurry vision or cotton mouth from it, and everything else made me drowsy or flat didn't work.

Get you some!   ;)

Going back it looks like it was pmpete that said he paid the $18 per nugget after insurance, you only replied to him.
So, I was thinking you paid the same or similar.

My bad.

Sooo, the takeaway seems to be to get a scrip for Scopace and take it to your local compounding pharmacy.
Get some decent sleep. Eat some non-greasy breakfast. Hope for a good outcome.

Those are some helpful tips but the reality is everyone reacts different to the ocean. This summer I have been doing some deck hand work for a local charter captain and have spent many long days with sea sick people. It ranges everywhere from no effect to slightly uncomfortable in heavy seas to full on fetal position in the slightest chop. One guy got sick everytime he opened his eyes!
I get sick too but usually only in heavy tight swells, worse when I haven't been on the ocean in awhile.
Having light food and water on the boat will help! Keep eating if you do get sick. Don't look down when tying knots. Try to have everything pre tied and if you need to re tie hold your head up and look forward rather than looking down.
I prefer not to medicate as I feel my body adjust the more time I spend on the water and most make me too drowsy.

So basically, yes those are the quick tips and keep looking at the horizon when you can and you have to spend time on the water to define your own limits.

Fungunnin, I have avoided the ocean entirely for the last 40 years. Last time out was fishing out of Brookings for coho in mild swells. I spent 90 percent of the time just hanging over the gunnel heaving or trying to.
A few years ago, I thought I would try crabbing at Bandon inside the jetties. Had my wife run the outboard while I pulled the pots, and with the light swell it was only minutes before I turned white and had the pre-barf sweats. Dunno what it is about my inner ears. I remember barfing as a little kid in the back seat of our 1950 Chevy DeLuxe on the road to Newport from Corvallis when Eisenhower was in the White House. Still the same way. Have to drive or be in the front seat.
So if I could find something that works, it would truly be a miracle.

Good luck ... for those that get sick with the slightest swell it can be quite a challenge. Meds help but I don't think any work miracles.

The cost after insurance was $36.80 ($18.40 per patch).  Yikes!  You have to pay to play.  The good news is that they are supposed to last for 3 days each.

I just returned from a fishing trip to Canada. They have the patch available to purchase over the counter in a 2 pack for about $10 (Canadian) at most pharmacies. May be a good idea to stock up if you're ever up north.

Welcome back Romanian Redneck, Have heard from you for quite a while.    Hope all is well .
