Yup.

Seeing and fondling Pelagic Paddler's new Hobie Adventure at Chinook Bend during the ORC sealed the deed for me.  I was really impressed with alot of the "attention to details" that Hobie puts into their yaks.

I was on a yak hunt already, as something that inevitably was going to happen soon...., mamma was gunna need a kayak to herself this summer, now that the kids are big enough to paddle the Malibu Two XL together.

Now, granted I hadn't ever pedaddled a Hobie before purchase, but I was willing to take the risk.   ;D

That said, I was originally thinking an Adventure would be my choice, but after really looking over PP's new yak, I was beginning to think I'd lean towards the Outback, as the wife or daughter could easily operate it as well.  I spent many hours researching the three top models I hear about mostly, the Outback, Revo, and the Adventure.  Looked over their individual layouts and specs.  Gandered many photos on the net....

We'll....I opted for the Revo.
And then after spending a few hours at the yak dealer where all three yaks were available to ponder details,  I was completely sold on the Revo for sure.

Why?

I don't feel that I need the optimum speed of the Adventure, but wanted to retain some of the shape, size and stability of my T13 without going shorter and wider.  And after playing around in it for a few hours at Hagg, it feels to have about the same stability, and paddleness to it as my T13 does.  The wife likes the feel of the T13 as well, so this gives her the option of which yak to operate when we go out together.

Just gotta play with it a bit and figure out how I'm gunna rig it.

I can say it, but I don't have the tag for it.  :-\

Had to change my priorities this year.  Last year I gave myself the goal to find a butt this year, but I gave myself the goal to build a trailer before that. Kinda slacked off this winter and dropped the ball on that one. Spring sprang, and the trailer was born.   Many many hours of cutting and gluing metal together.   Still have some items on the trailer that need money thrown at them before I squirt it with paint in Aug.   Luckily the money spent on the Revo wasn't part of that expense, it had it's own account called "PA time".   :headbang:

Congrats!  The Revo will someday be the third boat in my dreamtime Hobie fleet.  I'm tryiing to get organized enough to add a second AI so I can support an extended tour partner to do a 100 mile sailing trip on these bad boys!

Check the rudder cable stays on each side of the rear hatch.  Mine were pad-eyes secured by one hatch screw.  I do not know if this is typical.  See the Twist-n-Stow rudder thread for a replacement.  Check all the screws for tightness while you are at it.

I think I'm a bit jealous.  I've been avoiding trying a Hobie just so I don't get hooked.  I'll have to paddle my T15 into the ground first...

Take out PP and ORC and insert "a shop in Baton Rouge" and you have my how Hobie stole my heart story in '05.

I'd been ogling the mirage drive, but the boats were too short. Then I saw an Adventure and it was as though they'd asked me what I wanted then built the boat. Everything I wanted and it was were I'd put it and slightly better.

That was the cure.

Welcome to the otherside.

Typical, guess they just ran out of good ideas after the rest of the great ideas on the Hobie.
See ya on the water..

Curious on how folks surf launch with their rods?  I am able to get my 6'6" and 7' rods/reels in through the front hatch without much problem.  However, I don't think I'd try it out in the ocean without at least a buddy holding on to the yak to keep it from turtling if the swells are less than optimal.

The wife can always take her choice of yaks when we are on the water together, I'm cool with that.  I'm betting my daughter will want to pedal the Hobie, while mommy and son, or me and son paddle the tandem.

When I'm solo, I get to pick my poison.   >:D
