Very cool!! I use floats on my rods, but I almost knocked one out of a flushmount recently. So maybe it would be a good idea to leash them when they aren't in my hands ::) I'm going right now to make one or two from weedeater line. I'll post a pic later.

Great tip! This looks real cool and cheap! I love having gear that has that personal feel on the yak!

Thanks for posting- what a good idea. I'm sure that i'll make a few of these. I lost a multi-too recently. Now I know what I'll have hanging from my pfd!

The weedeater line was a bust. Tried twice. Boiled one for 2 min, and one for 4-5 then strait into the ice water. The coils came out loose and sloppy. Next time I'll try with mono.

Maybe there are different types of plastic used for different weed eaters?  I wouldn't know as TLW does the yard work.

I was thinking the same thing. I looked over the package afterwards, and it is actually made by Shakespeare. No biggie. Ill pick up some heavy mono and give it another try.

I just use 550 paracord for all of the leashes I might want.  I keep 100' in my car, and may add it as a safety item on the boat.
