The weather's looking friggin awesome!!!
Even if the North winds kick in, we'll have some good shelter from both the jetty and the headland!

If any of your are on the fence about going, this should be the clincher!

Swells will be from the NW and winds will be minimal.  Looks like AWESOME conditions for the north jetty and north cliff as well as the jetty to the east.  The area directly out from the launch should be pretty hot.

Is there Salmon in that area currently?

I'm thinking I'll just be rigged up and ready to hit Salmon AND bottomfish.  Wish the weigh in was later in the day lol!

Salmon fishing is closed in that area right now.  They are available offshore if you can find a beach launch or above Tongue Point (along with Steelhead).

Sturgeon is also still open in the lower river and the bite has finally started picking up.

Looks like there'll be lots of fun to be had besides crab!

What a lame regulation.  The control zone is ALWAYS closed to salmon fishing unless you're fishing from the jetty, and from bouy 10 to the astoria bridge is closed.

What horrible horrible wording:

SALMON &
STEELHEAD
June 16-July 31 Min. size 12". Daily limit 6. Up to 2 may be adult hatchery CHINOOK or hatchery STEELHEAD or 1 of each. Release all SALMON other than hatchery CHINOOK. CLOSED to fishing for SALMON and STEELHEAD from Buoy 10 to the Megler Astoria Bridge.

What??!!! I was looking forward to maybe catching my first salmon from a kayak.  :(

Now I have to figure out how to fish for bottomfish.

One more week to go before that area is open to salmon.  The bottom fishing is usually pretty good down there though and for the 1st time in forever, sturgeon is open all the way to B10.

I can't wait to get there!!!

For those who want to just throw out a line and chill while waiting to pull pots, bring along some earthworms or sandshrimp.  There are lots of different species living and moving thru that area.

Just stopped by Waikiki Beach and the conditions are nuts. Sunny skies, .5' waves, and 10mph winds from the north. If anyone was on the fence about this you just might want to pull the trigger. For all those that are departing tonight.. It's on!! See you at 6am.
