Well I am enthusiastic, and we live in the same town.  I always thought heading out the Salmon river would be a most scienic trip.  You would have to do it with the tide and could have less time fishing than a beach launch.  Nanook did a great blog on it a while ago: http://kayakangler.blogspot.com/  .   I think the advise was a lot of time would be spent on the technicals.
So I could do such a trip in two weeks, weather permitting.  You got a depth finder or should I get around to installing mine?

Distance from Salmon River launch to rock in question is around 2.5 miles.  A launch through the surf on roads end beach would make it a little over a mile. You could also ride with the current and possibly the winds on the way back. Something to think about.

After looking into this a little further, I think that if you're looking for an offshore rock to fish, Pacific City is your best option for that section of the coast.  It's really hard to beat.  Half a mile to the rock, easy beach launch and parking, fish cleaning stations and that place has been proven to put out lots of fish.  Exploring new areas is always fun though!

Whats not to like about Depoe Bay as well?  The crabbing off PC would be another draw, looking around Lincoln city there should be similar sandy bottoms...   There sure are alot of guys in this area: http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1090
Fishsniffer could show us the hot spots off Depoe Bay ect.

What's happening 7-31?!!!

After reading PC 17 & 18 one might think Depoe Bay might have a draw back of being very busy on a nice summer day.  Us guys could drag our yaks down the first dock...   I will rig a flag!
