Hello all...Baardo here....I'm the latest newbie. I originally hail from Florida years ago but relocated here in the 80's. Fishing has been a part of my life off and on since I can remember and I've been doin the flyfishing thing for about the past ten years, most recently learned the two handed spey technique on the Sky and the Skagit. Free time is harder to come by these days what with work, kids and marital duties...so I've been lookin at kayak fishing as a way to hit the water fast and enjoy my short times fishing with more appreciation. I love the water and catching fish is a bonus but one I intend to reap more! I've been talking about kayak fishing around the homefront for about 2 months and the lovely wife just gave me the OK to purchase a kayak and after a visit to REI and some buddy talk & internet research I ordered a Wilderness systems tarpon 100....I'm so excited... I look at the website picture at least 2-3 times a day. It should arrive in a couple of weeks! I live in Kenmore, WA about 1 mile from the north end of Lake Washington and I figure to learn some kayak handling skills there before moving on to more aggressive water situations...so my question is: does anybody have experience fishing the north end of Lake Washington and could you help me out with location and what gear for that fishery? I have fly rods and spinning gear but it's been awhile since I've broken out the spin tackle. Thanks and I hope to meet many of you in the months to come!

Welcome Baardo!  :hello:

Always great to see new people getting into the sport!  Congrats on the new boat, very exciting!

I don't have any experience in that area, but I believe there is a good number of people on this forum that are in your same area and fish that lake every once in a while. Hopefully someone will chime in to answer your questions. I bet you'll be able to find people to head out there with, just post up when you're going in the "Washington Kayak Fishing" board.

Thanks for the welcome. I am thrilled to be onboard and have spent the day reading about kayak set ups and anchor systems and on & on. This excitement I feel has been absent for too long! Hope some of the Seattle fellas can help ease my learning curve!

If you're looking for trout, start at the barges, work your way over to Arrowhead Point, then down the shore off St. Edwards.

They sit in the middle of the north end of the lake.  You can't miss them.

BTW, decent fall deep water jigging for jumbo perch off Arrowhead/Edwards.  And I think the winter trout bite is the better time of year for them, especially around the barges.  Pop gear with a wedding ring tipped with a worm.  That area around Arrowhead/Edwards is also a decent stretch for coho if/when they open it up.
