Ocean Kayak is coming out with a new rod pod cover in 2011. This thing is thicker and bomb proof. I included a link for all of you to check out. These covers work with older Trident Ocean Kayaks. I wish they came out with this sooner. I would not have had to drill so many holes in my yak! -CAV

I got the INSAYN knockoff (new modular rod-pod) a couple of weeks ago.  SwiftDraw and I fished that same weekend together and compared the two (he built the diy INSAYN fibeergrlass rod pod lid).  I am impressed by it's sturdiness and polished look and it is sturdier and may fit a little tighter than the modular rod-pod.

That said, the mod rod pod is nice, and a big upgrade from the original.  I can provide pics if anyone needs (have a recent pic on AOTY) but it's a pretty simple piece of gear that gives you some extra options for mounting things, and getting them out of the way, while at the same time improving the water tight integrity of the kayak.

The Carbon River has good shore access so I dont need to fish from the yak.Plus, if you did take the yak down it the only thing you would catch would be a slinky weight into the forehead. Fishing is slow but there are plenty of fish at the hatchery. I thought about the green though once it opens.

I don't know who is carrying them but I did get to see one.  They have a T13 fishing package set up on display at Outdoor Emporium in downtown Seattle and I believe it has the new rod pod on it.
